Trump to Announce Temporary Shutdown End

no, don't you know the rule? No president ever gets anything done in office his first two years, even if his party controls both the house and senate. that's apparently a rule, according to Strawmanhack.

so don't point out the absurdity of him never shutting the government down in '17 or '18 to get his wall, because no president ever gets anything done in his first two years in office anyway.*

and then after his first two years, his party loses control of the house and/or senate, so he can't do anything then either, but should still shut down the government.

(*except pass tax cuts for billionaires and corporations, but that's something all regular Americans want too, and Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer went along with because they're dangerous tax and spend liberals and not totally the same as Republicans).

speaking of strawman arguments - I've never said anything remotely close to that. You have a pretty consistent track record of making up shit you wish I said and arguing against it. I guess you get pretty desperate when you're batting .000 in actual fact based arguments.

Goddamn right!

/goes back to being on hold with Comcast for 72 minutes.

why in the world would you stay on hold that long? If a company put me on hold for more than 15 minutes I would cancel my service and take my business elsewhere.

he did it as a public service - how else would we know the private sector is no less efficient than the government. I bet he's not even a Comcast customer, he just cares that much about the common man.

it used to be if you held out long enough, you'd get a year of HBO & Showtime, plus lifetime multi-room DVR (service, I still got whacked for the equipment charges). After that year though, my rate reset to the point where the value just wasn't there and rather than renewing under the previous terms, they let me cancel.

Yeah. I would be looking for another job if I was in the TSA or another position that has to work while politicians bitch about opening the government.

TSA is a scam to keep the uneducated employed and majority of the population in fear. The Politicians can't afford to let that scam end.

in the "Mexico is paying for teh Wall" thread when I noted how bullshit the timing of this "shut down" was, and the GOP controlled both the House & senate his first two years in office, you claimed neither W. Bush or Obama did much in their first two years, and also no one in the house or senate GOP support Trump (seems contrary to the evidence since plenty of articles describe his support in the GOP as solid up until the midterms happened), so therefore Trump had to wait until the democrats took the House to force a shutdown to build his wall.

Comcast is a monopoly

I never said anything remotely like the way you characterized my point in this thread. I also said nothing about Trump having to wait to force a shutdown.

it's weird the GOP controlled the Senate AND House his first two years in office, and despite this being a "crisis" he campaigned on, it never got built then.

Almost like this whole thing is just a fucking made up pile of shit... and the people that believe it are extremely stupid and worthless.

it's not weird at all. Bush had a Republican house and senate for part of his first term and got very little done. Obama had both houses until the midterms and did very little. It's probably more common, at least in my lifetime that major campaign promises don't get done with single party control than the reverse. Plus, both Bush and Obama pretty much had the full backing of their parties, Trump has zero support from across the aisle and resistance from within.

You clearly, intentionally misrepresented what I said and then tried to score a zinger off of it - that's a strwaman argument if ever there was one.

Of course it seems very odd that you would point this out considering you're the guy who recites the "two parties who agree on everything except abortion" line ad nauseum. Shouldn't you of all people be aware that establishment Rs and establishment Ds don't want the wall. How do you expect him to get something through congress that those so many in his own party were against it?

Trump should just tell his idiot base that the "wall" is done and that Mexico paid for it and then shoot some PC in a closed set.

Then they can go back to focusing on what really matters - Hillary Clinton's emails.
