Was that so hard? Don't blame me for dragging it out, you dragged it out even after I had dropped it.

did you really need me to tell you that about long division? Reread my whole post, I wasn't referring to it to drag it out.

I read your whole post. It doesn't explain why you were waiting for me to explain the difference that I had been clear on not knowing the entire time.

Knowing the difference between short and long division is the reason those guys on Wall Street make the big bucks.

They learn it by studying "hard sciences" like... uh... "business administration."

remember, you're an unaccomplished career associate corporate lawyer (that despises corporations) who had to move to Texas, the state you probably hate the most because you couldn't find a job practicing contract law in one of the biggest cities in the country. You're not in a position to make judgements like this.

funny thing, I didn't even know what short division was until this thread.

I must be old.

but you'd heard of and knew what long division was, correct?

I think they just call short division "division" for short.

yes, I have heard of long division. That's what we grew up with. Whenever you have large numbers and are doing it by hand.

However, what they are calling "short division" is just the traditional long division with a "shortcut"

It looks really easy and probably a time saver. My guess is all kids are learning it this way, not the old way. Again, I'm over 50 and have never been introduced to this until today.

Skip to about 0:50 and it makes perfect sense.

When he said short division, I thought it meant writing it in the form 'X ? Y ='

You think you're insulting me, but you're not.

I've embraced it and have boatloads of cash now... no state income tax.

Here's the car I drive:

I guarantee no one who posts here has as fine of a ride as me.

Dude!

As soon as they lift the travel ban between California and Tejas I’m coming out there and we’re going to go toolin’ around in that bad ass mofo!

I guess the beach boys never sang about Texas girls.

Closest they got was southern girls.

Everything's bigger in Texas... esp. the boobies.

I think there's something in the water (probably benzene or some other highly carcinogenic petrochemical)

Maybe in Texas they put the silicon directly in the water.

Cut out the middleman.

Calling Shotgun. Does the horn sound like a herd of Angus on the trail, with the "accoutrement" sound of gunfire and hollering?
