That is utter nonsense. That is a football play. It wasnt helmet to helmet it was a clean block. He was chasing down the guy with the ball. If you dont wanna get hit tell the qb to go down or avoid the play.

Ya but the rules are designed to protect the QB. You can't take a clean shot on him anymore unless he's going to be directly invovled in the play - which he wasn't.

But next time we see Ponder, they do everythign they can to not hit him and keep him in the game - keep Joe Webb on the sidelines!!

They played tebow just a couple weeks ago and im sure they had a package for him....i would hope. Why not just call those defenses. Avril was in position to make the play a couple times and missed.... KVB too....wide 9 and they still cant contain.

wide 9 isnt meant as a contain defense, its meant as a pressure defense with the ends pushing up field. So its no surprise that a qb with webbs speed could break the pocket and have room to run. If they play a running defense they need to use Lbs as spies or use their ends to hold the edge and focus on contain.

correct....they push up the field and they start out wider. hence WIDE 9. Which means contain should be easier. Except that we were especially crappy with contain responsibilities that day.

It must contain some because their pass defense is pretty good.

Yea the pass defense hasnt been as bad. But a running Qb or a good running team have had good days against the dline. The attacking wide 9 we run leaves big seems in the defense meaning that its up to the rest of the defense to fill those holes. They have done a decent job overall but they need to be better.
