Profootballtalk reports the Lions have re-signed MLB Stephen Tulloch to a five-year contract.

My guess is no more then 5mil per season with around 9-10 in guarantees. Glad hes back and now we can focus on our O-Line and upgrading the secondary.

Woohoo!

I'd love to see Avril's situation worked out soon. I'm hoping somebody offers up picks and we can draft a cheap young player to fill that spot. I'm hoping to see SLH resigned too.

I feel bad for David Hawthorne. He's actually on an airplane right now on his way to Detroit.

I can't imagine that Hawkthorne is going to command a big contract given the thin money being given to linebackers the last couple of years.

It's possible the Lions could still sign him and build a nasty corps.

No way they have money for both. They had about $6-7 million in cap space before Tulloch.

Tulloch, Durant, and Levy is fine for now. If the Lions want to upgrade on Levy or Durant, it'd be in the draft with someone more athletic

Don't even make sense to add Hawthorne with Tulloch. Hawthorne is a 2 down run stopper.

A year ago we all assumed the Lions would only sign Durant if they couldn't sign Tulloch. Durant was the "plan B". We ended up with them both.

We lost a couple of free agent linebackers this off season, and the market is way thin on paying LBs. See Dan Connors contract as an example.

Hawthorne could be a Lion still if he's willing to settle for less money to land a gig right about now. Not saying it will happen... but not saying it won't.

So what have we done this offseason? Resign our guys less wright? Nice job by management.

Hawthorne,Durant and Tulloch would be awesome for run D but in coverage I would be scared to death.

Considering how bad the run defense was last year it would make sense to add Hawthorne also. I just don't see it happening.

I'm of opinion Hawthorne coming in helped move this along as Tulloch wasn't getting anywhere with his meetings and probably realized he better sign something while the job is still available.

Have to take care of your own first and we are cap strapped. We kept some key guys on a 10-6 team. Hopefully we draft some impact guys that can contribute immediately and take that next step. This year was never going to be a FA splash.

What big signing did the Giants make last offseason? David Baas?

They had some holes to fill, don't forget they had lost Pierce due to injury and Steve Smith went to Eagles, the OL was a concern and their kicking game was a mess the year before last and DBs were not great either. They actually did some solid reconfigurations, got Lady Luck rolling with them, and everything worked out perfectly despite the fans calling for Coughlin to be fired before the team finally found their stride. But other than that they didn't make any changes. ;)

I am glad we locked him up. He really was a great player for us last year and we are the perfect fit for him. Its funny that in many ways this has been a good off season for us because of the players we were able to keep.

That's pretty amazing that they got him to sign and seems like they played it really smart at the same time. Sucks for Tulloch, because we all knew he was gonna go to the highest bidder if the money they were talking about was right. So he got WORKED last year into signing a one year deal at half the price he could have gotten and then pretty much came back for what looks to be his minimum asking price. Well played management... well played

This raises my expectations for next season a good bit
