I think we could be the unanimous #1 in basketball today, Arizona may get a few votes but Kansas and Duke lost this week, UK was #3

Arizona may get more than a few after beating Duke. But some of the struggles Duke and UK have had recently helps put or bad performances against Columbia and Portland into perspective.

Even though they let one get away yesterday, Oklahoma State has been pretty impressive so far.

Call me crazy but I wasn't really impressed by Arizona. Then again I'm sure people across the country are sayin the same about MSU after our struggles.

Izzo has struggled mightily against UNC I hope we put a beating on them.

Aaron Gordon might not be the scorer that Parker and Randle are among the touted freshmen, but might be just as effective in other ways. They had a good plan to slow Parker down and the length to pull it off. Duke is also horrible defensively right now.

In this and day and age of college basketball where there is usually no such thing as a complete team, Arizona has a lot of parts. A go-to scorer might be their biggest weakness though Nick Johnson could become that guy.

free throws are a great equalizer, teams may not be able to compete with outside shooting or on the boards but when all you have to do is drive and get fouled, anything can happen.

Arizona got one vote in the espn poll

we play them on December 14th... I'll put you down on the "Cheering for Michigan" list that day.

the last time I cheered for Michigan was the hoops game vs Indiana last year, i don't know if that situation justifies it, i think i'll just be neutral

I wouldn't call it "cheering", but I'd rather all big ten teams win out during non conference.

I'll cheer for most big ten teams only because it will help MSU's profile.

just looking at the schedule, if we win out and OSU does, we should be looking at another 1 vs 2 at breslin in January. we should be favored in all of our games, OSU has a very soft schedule. Kentucky has baylor, UNC, and Louisville remaining.

I had forgotten about ohio because of the aura around our tourney performance, and you guys getting all the preseason accolades, but oddly enough Sagarin has them #1 right now, with a SOS that's slightly better than ours and slightly worse than yours, but basically in the same ballpark.

but yeah, from here until the Big Ten schedule starts, they play nobody, and all at home, except the neutral site game against a crap ND team. though, except for UNC, it doesn't look like you guys really do either.

@ Texas is a challenge, they always have a ton of talent and are poorly coached but it's in Austin. they're 6-1 with a loss against BYU on a neutral court, not a great team but a tough true road test.

we also play Georgetown but that's not until February when we step out of conference.

congrats to Michigan for playing a big boy schedule, it may hurt now but it will help in the long run.

thanks, I agree.

Iowa State and FSU look good. who knows what the deal with Charlotte is... that was a crappy loss & we shot poorly. We still play @Duke, AZ, and Stanford.

since our biggest task this year is getting PG play up to speed, I think playing a tough schedule will help a lot.

You will most likely go into big ten play with 4 losses but know a lot more about where you need to improve. Last year they had nc state an k state but those teams weren't that good and you had a disappointing big ten season. If your goal is to win a conference title you need to test yourself early

Not me. I have always liked Arizona, plus I never root for U-M unless there is a massive benefit for MSU. I have a tough time rooting for most teams in the B1G sadly, even in OOC games.
