Tip is scheduled for 9:58 on Friday.

MSU is the bigger team inside. Lets hope that Payne and Dawson have big games. UVA plays a little like Wisc.

Go green!

Sucks. I wish the games started 5:30 - screw California, let 'em blow off work again to watch games. No chance I'll get home before 1am Sat morning.

that's cool you're going, that's tough with the new baby. these games haven't bothered me because i'm up anyway

the sacrifices we make...it's hard to pass this up though - i've never been to a Spartan tournament game other than hockey East Regionals in '06 - technically the sweet 16 but not at all the same. It's tough because if I want to see the ISU game I have to either kill 3 hours in the City or go home, barely see the kids turn around and come back in. If I have dinner and put them to bed, I'll miss a good chunk of that game. Ten years ago when i was single and living in the City, this would be warm-up for the night out - now it's an endurance challenge.

Can MSU play 2 good halves of basketball, we have yet play 2 good halves all year.

we did in the BTT, we were building big leads and then the other team would make some shots but we played good, smart basketball. losing the second half by 5 when you're up 15 or so at halftime is good

One thing I've noticed so far in the tournament is that a lot of the teams needed a bit of a wakeup call somewhere along the way. Look at Florida, Virginia, and Arizona. Every one of them found themselves in ballgames they didn't expect in the second half of 1-16 matchups before doing what they needed to put their opponents away. Then they all came out and blew out their next opponent.

Again, hopefully the Harvard second half was our wakeup call. I'm not saying we're going to blow Virginia out, but the team should hopefully be mentally ready to go for 40 minutes.

we'll be ready to play, unfortunately we could play well and still lose

let's just hope this game doesn't get postponed due to condensation on the court and players slipping

hey, do you have your tickets yet? i just got an email from the athletic department saying I could buy 4

I almost completely forgot about that, that was around 2001 wasn't it?

very early in ACC/Big ten history, i remember watching it in my old apartment in Chicago. UVA was a good team back then, ranked really highly, I remember they stormed back to take a lead and then they called the game

I have Sunday and will know today about Friday - should be just a matter of where, not if but I will PM you if something changes.

I watched them play Duke and Memphis and this is going to be a great game. no doubt they are the best team we have faced this year, we are also the best team that they've played. I almost prefer this because there is no way we take them lightly

The tennesse coach said the key to beating the UVA defense is passing out of the post since they double very well. Tennesse beat them by 30 I think, it was early in the season but I suppose he knows what he's talking about. Payne is a patient player in the post so I'm confident. Not so confident with Dawson he gets stripped a couple times a game.

By the way, how awful has the Acc been in the tournament? Duke and Syracuse out before the sweet 16. Ouch!

It was early and UVA had already lost to VCU, wisco and Green Bay. Since then their ACC schedule was as easy as it could be w/ no 2 game series against the top teams. Not saying it will be easy but if we can defend and run a little bit off their misses and like you said, get the inside-out game going, i like our chances.

I witnessed that in the Memphis game. They doubled the post every single time the ball went down there and Memphis also never knew what direction it was coming from. There were a few times when they were able to get guys open under the basket when someone left to double, but obviously not enough to make much of a difference. It looked to me that turning and going weak side with the passes was the way to beat it as they were very quick to rotate over on the outside shooters. How Payne is able to handle that will be a huge key. If they double with Dawson's man a lot, since he is probably the least threatening shooter it could open up a lot of opportunities for him on the offensive glass.

it might also mean more opportunity for KK to knock shots down. hopefully Trice, Denzel, KK, and Harris stay out of foul trouble so they are open for 3
