Vaughn impressing at OTA's

Green or Greenwood would get cut. Maybe both. Lions kept only 5 CBs last year after final cuts.

Houston,Slay,Mathis,Bentley,Lawson,Vaughn

Lawson is the only one they could stash on the PS and with Bentley, Mathis and Carey the nickel spot would be covered. But Mathis might be on the outside if Houston can't get healthy.

"Vaughn picked off an errant pass from Dan Orlofsky...Then batted down a pass intended for Pat Edwards." Color me shocked, he must be a super stud making plays on such high caliber talent. Silly season indeed.

Why turn a positive into a negative?

Not a positive into a negative - maybe a positive into a neutral. Reporters have to write about something during a time that is basically a live action walk through. Maybe he'll be a contributor - maybe he'll be like the other umpteen OTA stars, most recently Pat Edwards who he was apparently locking down, and fade to black.

Weren't you the guy Tony, saying the Michael Williams move was a throwaway story? Nice to hear about these things....I'm just saying it may be a bit early to debate his roster spot. Not the greatest contribution to the thread but that's my 2 cents.

The bottom line is this....if he plays super well during OTAs and that translates over to camp and he beats out Greenwood for the 6th corner on the field. Then we have a new number 6 corner to sit on the bench and help with ST. yippie...

So while I can appreciate guys fighting for positions and working hard so they can pick off dan orlovsky or cover a 7th string WR that practically everyone he went up against last year covered him like a blanket....id say...that's what youre supposed to do against those guys. Im pretty sure Greenwood and Green could do that against those guys. So to tie it all in with what cheeno said......they can write about this all they want....but its not a story.

Williams is a 7th rd pick who has contributed nothing to the team so far. At least Vaughn has started and has had some success in the league. Hardly a throwaway story like Williams. And with the shitshow with our secondary, i'll take any positive right now lol. ;)

Sure is a story. Our secondary isn't the strongest unit on the team. What if this kid could start? 100% story...

youre taking lemons....and turning them into long island ice teas.....keep drinking lol

Maybe a little lol. You said it yourself, this secondary is a trainwreck, right? He started in Indy, right? You never know....

we need a "hidden gem" in the worst way on this team....or like 5 of them lol. If we get a new coaching staff that develops and promotes talent....ill be their #1 cheerleader. I just have not ever seen that from a Detroit lions coaching staff so to say im skeptical is an understatement. Usually we collect talent...stash it on the bench...let it die. If the 3 guys combining for half your cap aren't overachieving....you definitely need a couple underpaid gems to step up and turn it on. Sign me up for Vaughn making 200k and becoming the next darelle revis lol....don't tease me with a good time!

To your point...if Lawson and Vaughn are in the discussion for the starter spot opposite Slay....thatd be a huge win for this team. Mathis in the slot and Bentley as the 4th corner would be huge. That's the positive about having a new regime....were not going to automatically see Houston starting just cause hes been here. If the new blood is performing better that Houston...the new blood will see the field. I don't really see Houston being a very good fit moving forward in Austin's scheme. Hes the opposite of a physical corner....

Reading up on what Austin wants to do defensively also makes me think what Dennard would have looked like in Honolulu Blue...
