As far as a second baseman for next season, I am in favor of H. Perez getting the shot. He is a fantastic defender. However, I would not be surprised if the Tigers land Jose Altuve for the stretch run and beyond. Maybe they were showcasing H.Perez a little? I read or heard somewhere that Infante has the same injury Maggs had. I also like Daniel Murphy on the Mets, not sure if he would blend in though.

how in the world do you think the Tigers are going to land Jose Altuve? Why would Houston want to get rid of him?

I am sorry, but Altuve does not walk enough for me to want him and Iglesias on the same team.

Since 2011, there are 25 MLB 2B with at least 1,500 Innings Played. UZR/150 Rankings:

7 - Infante

21 - Scutaro

22 - Daniel Murphy

23 - Altuve

Why would we go from one of the best defensive 2B to one of the worst?

I don't like the idea of resigning Infante, who is old, and overrated. But I also don't think Hernan is quite ready for the full time MLB gig just yet.

He might be overrated but consider what we had before and what we might have after we might be screaming for him mid season.

2012 2B

Infante (229 PA) .622 OPS

Raburn (110 PA) .595 OPS

Santiago (178 PA) .505 OPS

2013 Away

Raburn (91 PA) .900 OPS

Infante (152 PA) .668 OPS

Santiago (68 PA) .529 OPS

I maybe in the minority, but I think Infante is overrated by people. I am definitely in the minority to liking Raburn. Certainly he had an off year last year, but his season this year proves it was just that. Additionally, I am an Avila fan and realize he hasn't been good offensively the last 2 seasons. His game calling/defense is often overlooked by many.

That's why I named Cano. If anything he'd be a leyland wet dream because r/l/r/l/s/r/l/r would be consistent throughout the lineup while at the same time being the optimal lineup.

I didn't include Raburn because he isn't a 2B. So if not Infante its Ramon. Next season who knows.

I should have been more clear. "I didn't list him because he sucks at 2B".

From a defensive standpoint, yes. But overall, when Raburn is hitting, he has more value than Infante. Just this team cannot have that many defensive liability.

I will also add that Infante is overrated defensively. Many a time I have seen him not make a routine double play throw. It doesn't necessarily show up in the stat sheet.

He has and if I was talking OF then he would have been mentioned. In defense of the Tigers, Raburn didn't give them much choice with his .171 average with 1 HR.

Did you really want him to stay after that year?
