Verlander looking like a right-handed Sabathia, but worse

Watching todays games highlights/lowlights, every fastball that was hammered by orioles batters that bad inning was up in the zone. He has to pitch at the knees or below with the lesser mph FB. More 2 seamers, than 4 seam, and work in more sliders, curves. He has to reinvent himself to a degree, not completely but enough so that his now average velocity FB that sits at 92/93 won't get crushed.
With this team going nowhere this year, he has some time to do it, tinker around until he finds the right balance, even if it is at the expense of more games like he pitched today.

I don't understand why people think JV is going to turn this around. He's never been a finesse pitcher who could hammer the corners at will. His fastball is dying on him and he's only getting older. Back before he turned into a superhero, it was a similar story, where he was more talented (unparalleled speed and stamina) than refined (ace game manager or devastating secondary pitches).

JV may turn into a league average pitcher at some point, but the days of being a quality 1 or 2 are gone.

his out pitch is gone, when he does hit 93+ they are all high pitches, just like Porcello when he got tired.
