For Jim to say that he will absolutely not pitch Justin in game 4 if they're down 2-1, well...I disagree with it.

tough choice if you're down 2 -1

do you want your horse to get you to a game 5 or do you want him pitching the game 5.

I guess you have to get to a game 5 so Im a believer in having him pitch game 4

if leyland starts scherzer on the road, im going to fucking murder him.

I'll just say that I am not at all surprised one little bit. In fact, I would have been really shocked had he said he WILL pitch him on short rest. That's not Jim's style and he's proven that over and over again. He has faith in his other guys...even if we don't.

C'Mon now that kinda shit isn't necessary. lines people lines.

It's just a message board exaggeration. I'll be pissed if Scherzer gets blitzed on the road too.

Max should be pitching at home... His ERA is a whole run lower at home..

Yeah pretty dumb statement saying he won't pitch JV in a game 4 down 2-1. At that point what are you freaking saving him for? There's no tomorrow. You'll play your game 5 all right but on your PS3 at home in your boxers.

I think his point would be that you have to win 2 games no matter what. Why panic?

I like the idea of trying to go up 2-0 with your best two pitchers to start a series. But I agree it would be better to have Scherzer pitch at home with his road performance this year.

exactly!

The guy is a horse. He averages 116 pitches a game. If we play the Yankees we no doubt will get CC game 1 and game 4. The advantage of him pitching in game 4, mre rest for the next series. Maybe we sweep whoever we play, then no worries.

Leyland on controversy about pitching JV on short rest in ALDS:
"There are just certain things in the house you don't mess with."

Leyland: "And I did say Divisional Series. Might rearrange the house a little bit, if we go beyond that."

That would be his argument for sure. The guy is nothing if not stubborn. We've all seen that. If you can't count on your #'s 2 or 3....

On a side note. Mickey Lolich pitched a complete game 5 then 3 days later, on 2 days rest, pitched another complete game to clinch the WS in 68. I remember a comment Lolich made when asked about the practice today of limiting pitchers to a 100 pitch count. He said something like he once threw 150 pitches and could have throw 50 more.

Sooooo....Fister wont be pitching again until game 2 of the Playoffs?? Seems like a long time to sit, no???
