Warner has a point

Just to touch on the Pettigrew debate. I love him catching balls and have no issues with him as a receiever. he has had a couple of timely drops...but who hasnt. My biggest issues with him is when he was drafted he was supposed to be this 3rd tackle type who was supposed to help our Oline and create a presense along the oline in the run game.....well....Linehan hasnt really used him in that mold from what ive seen this year. I really think he could help this oline out alot and yet hes out on a route every snap. I think we have enough playmakers running routes....i think its time we kept the TE in on some sets and gave stafford more time to find those taleneted receievers and the the WRs more time to get open.

Titus>Cobb all day in my book. quick, great hands, and good route running. had the right read last week when everyone was bashing him for not going into the end zone.

I could say the same for cobb lol. They have pretty similar stats. Cobb has the 100yrd kick return though. Cobb is a year younger.

2 very similar players.

idk if they are that similar...titus seems more of a receiver to me..you know ball skills and such.......cobb seems to me to be more of a percy harvin type player...average ball skills...but a good player with the ball in his hands...

just to get this thread back on topic for a bit, hell yes stafford is missing some short targets out there......in fact, if he just could've connected on a few more big throws in the last couple of weeks, this football team could POSSIBLY BE 7 AND FUCKING 0 right this very instant. but as we all have learned, things can NEVER go perfect for the detroit lions......something ALWAYS has to either go wrong, blowup, or even die on our asses.... but heck, this is the sort of life we've chosen in becoming lions fans, right?......it's been nothing short of a pure bitch, that's for damn sure.

but why is stafford suddenly struggling? sure, the ineptitude of our offensive line is a sure fire answer......stafford losing a bit of his confidence as well could also be another one. but i want to take this in another direction because i am going to point the finger straight at one nate burleson.

please someone correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't burleson brought in to become this football team's possession receiver? well, he sure as hell isn't possessing at this very moment.....hell, he isn't even fucking catching...... that's why we've got to place a lot of stafford's struggles right upon his shoulders. you can't place it on megatron's, he's been our fucking superman this year, (yes, i understand he shouldn't have been even brought up by me) can't place it on pettigrew's, he's been a top tight end this season, young is just a fucking rookie, and maybe you CAN blame scheffler a bit.....BUT maybe the reason why stafford isn't completing enough on the intermediate routes is because he just feels he doesn't have a quick out when the rush is coming?

dammit, it's time for burleson to quit chatting on twitter and step his fucking game up. yeah, we all wanna blame stafford and maybe he is at fault.....but he is STILL a young quarterback. yes, we ALL want him to be great now, not later......but really HOW MUCH CAN WE EXPECT FROM HIM when he has no running game or even decent passblocking to ease him into the league.....you know, a young qb 2 greatest friends? burleson has the talent to be the possession receiver of this football team and it's time dammit....he NEEDS to be able to keep the opposing defenses honest by catching the short routes, thereby allowing megatron to go deep later in the contest......

there is absolutely NO REASON teams should be able to play zone defenses against this offense and not be burnt.....we have the receivers to DESTROY this type of coverage......burleson just HAS to become more of an option for stafford or i can fucking guarantee our passing game is NOT GOING TO IMPROVE one iota.

He seems to have good hands. They're about the same size and about as fast as each other. Titus is a bit faster I think but robb is a little bigger. That's what I meant as similar.

I was hoping cobb would be like another jennings, but id be happy with a percy harvin type without the headaches.

I can only blame the receivers so much. Stafford has been missing really easy throws. The wide receiver screen last week comes to mind where he threw it way off target and they couldnt get up field. He needs to get that under control and for most of this season he has been fine. The past two games have been dreadful.

Burleson has been non-existent this year. Where the fuck is he? Too many people to blame though. It stems from the QB and all the way down. The OLine, WR's (except CJ) have been fn brutal.

And yet we're still 5-2. Could be worse. I bet the Carolina fans are thrilled to have won 2.

He could be a little CJ happy and Pett happy. A lot of QB have "their" targets.

Lions are in too many 3rd and longs(bad running, penalties, some Stafford misfires). And the Oline is not giving Stafford enough time so shorter throws to Pettigrew/Best are needed, Stafford is misfiring or Burleson/Young aren't getting open. It's a combo of all 3. Pettigrew has 56 targets, Best 41 missing a game and Burleson has 37 and Young has 33.

Everyone needs to step on offense and the Lions need to get in better situations on 3rd down.

How can people complain about Pettigrew this year? He has 2 drops and he's a top 5 TE in the league right now. He's also made several really tough catches this year on rockets from Stafford. He's a stud and a good blocker to boot. I see some Pro Bowls in his future.

Stafford is still really inexperienced and he's looked average for a couple games, but he'll put it together again this season and finish up strong IMO.

I saw Pettigrew drop 3 balls in one game.....The threshold for a drops must be extremely high for that site

We all know what their fn record is, Mitch. The point is, they seem to be regressing. They need to fix the problem. Have you seen their schedule in the second half? It gets real tough....

Makes me wonder what games some of these guys are watching. Whether it's considered a drop or he doesn't come up w/a catchable pass....What's the difference? But the kid's certainly not a bum.

BUM? never said anything about that....But he does have more than 2 drops

2nd behind Witten in TE receptions the last year and a half.

I'll take it from a kid who basically blocked at Oklahoma ST.

8th in the NFL in receptions this year....boom.
