Running the play would of ran it down to the two minute warning. That would of been only an extra 18 seconds off the clock.

Tough to argue with the play, it worked, just a little off on the throw and catch. He was open though.

Remember the Jets game last season? With the late late 4th quarter pass attempt on 3rd down by the Lions - instead of running the ball, which would have taken a whole lot of time off the clock - which gave Sanchez & Co just enough time to get into position for the game tying field goal, and the Jets eventually won in OT?

Linehan is a clueless tool in terms of clock management. They should have run on at least one of the plays inside the Raider 20 to force them to burn a TO or eat clock. The incomplete passes are what gave them the chance to even try the FG. If they had burned their TOs or clock, they don't even get to send the FG team out.

No reason to throw the ball with over a minute to play inside the 20 when down 6 and the opponent has a kicker with a strong leg. Run one play, just to make them burn a TO or clock. You don't want to leave them with 30+ seconds and 2 TOs. Too easily translated into a FG chance. Sure Suh blocked the kick, but I'd venture to say the odds of blocking a kick are less than the odds Janikowski makes that FG if he gets it off clean. Lady Luck was on their side, and I'm happy for it...just pointing out that Linehan is terrible at clock management. As someone pointed out, his inability to properly manage the clock was a big part in why the Jets beat the Lions last year.

If SJ makes that kick today, everyone would be stating what I just did and you know it. Sure it would have broken the longest NFL FG record...but SJ is the one who set that record and today's kick would have only been 2 yards longer, so he is absolutely capable of making it from there.

Yes. I mean they scored with 39 seconds left. So they did what they needed.

Sure Suh blocked the kick, but I'd venture to say the odds of blocking a kick are less than the odds Janikowski makes that FG if he gets it off clean.

With a kick of that distance its going to have to be very low. It's not surprising that it gets blocked or a finger on it. The guy is good and makes 50% of his 50+ field goals. But an extra 15 yards is a huge difference. I'm not sure the chances of him making it are all that great.

Lets not forget the 63 yard field goal was kicked in Denver.

Look, the Raiders only had like 35 seconds to get into field goal position. Any decent defense should have been able to hold them down that long.

Two DBs failed to stop a long pass to the TE who was right next to them. We failed to cover the sidelines with 8 seconds left and that gave them a chance at the 67 yarder (would have been over 70 with an incompletion). Bag on the offensive playcalling (TOUCHDOWN) all you want, but the defense shouldn't have put themselves in position to NEED to block that kick.

A little unlucky as well. Before the sidelines pass, it looked like Palmer was going to complete a pass in the field of play and have clock run out but he dropped it. I'm okay with how the last drive played out, Janokowski or no Janokowski. I'm just glad no penalties.

In the end I think my "please don't make it, please don't make it" begging did the trick.

Did anyone else think they spotted the final kick too close, I thought they were at the 49 and you usually line up 8 yards back for longer kicks, add the end zone and I thought they should have been lining up for a 67 yard FG. It was going to be a lower kick and I think they lined up at 6 or 7 yards back, so that's a lot better chance for it to be blocked.
