So much for the idea that we lost to the best team in the country. I know they've had some injuries on the o-line but they really struggled at Wash St and they just got beat at home by Arizona. Both teams put up nearly 500 yards on a defense we could barely move the ball against in the 2nd half.

Obviously this doesn't change what we need to do but it definitely hurts the argument for a spot in the playoff if we do run the table - especially if the ducks lose again. They don't play USC but they still have UCLA, Stanford and Utah.

Could be good, could be bad, who knows? We just need to win, hopefully we win out and it's good enough for the playoff. If not we "settle" for a big ten title.

On another note, rich rod has to be the happiest guy on the planet now.

Also, all of this could be moot if we lose tomorrow and that's very possible, Nebraska is good.

yeah, like I said this doesn't change what we need to do and I'm definitely nervous about Nebraska. So far we look like the better team but they're good enough to beat us. But to me, the only way this Oregon loss could be good for us is if they lose again and make more room at the top of the standings. I would have preferred to see both teams run the table and set up a possible rematch in the playoff.

Curious to see where Arizona lands in the rankings next week. If they were an SEC team they'd probably debut at #5 or so.

Ultimately, this weekend still turned out to be a success. MSU moved up two spots in the polls. Of the SEC teams ahead of us, all of them have to play each other, and we could legitimately see a 2-loss SEC team winning the conference. Baylor honestly doesn't seem all that strong, and I don't expect them to win out. ND and Florida State will knock one or the other out of the playoff picture.

Winning out is still a must to have any chance at the playoff. But after this weekend, winning out actually looks like it gives us a very strong chance to make the field (when after Friday it looked like even that might not be enough).
