Why the hell is nobody asking "what was Infante doing, going back to 2nd in the first place...?"

You can NEVER not go from first to third on a base hit to right field with two outs.

Never, ever, ever, ever, ever...

One time out of 6, or 7 or 8 chances, Al Kaline is going to throw you out.

Maybe Reggie Jackson.

Maybe Babe Ruth (people don't remember what an arm he had in right field).

Nick Swishwer aint' none of them guys.

Infante has made several mental errors that I hope are being sternly addressed. He was bluffed back to first when Kuroda delivered home. He was standing at second like a ten-year-old when Rodriguez singled past him. I know he started it all with a single, but still...

Camera didn't show or I missed, did lamont put the stop sign up? It was kind of shallow right,

From that part of right field Kaline would have nailed the runner at third 11 out of 10 times.

Yeah Lamont put up the stop sign when Infante wanted to go to 3rd thus causing him to have to make a long return to 2nd.

He shouldn't need the stop sign or not; on first and a ball batted into right field with two out, he's gotta be going to third no matter what.

T Ball fundamentals, 7 year olds should know it.

I must have went to a different fundamental camp. If he went, Swisher gets him out by a 1/2 mile.

That's what I was thinking,
it's swisher throwing not Kaline,
he would have had to make a perfect throw,
so lamont was at it again.

it was the kind of base running error you might see once a series at most...I still think the tigers would've shut out the yankees anyway.

Well, if you're old Magglio or Sean Casey, then you better hussle to 2nd or you're getting thrown out, let alone stretching it to 3rd.

OK, you're right; there are exceptions for exceptionally slow runners.

So I amend what I say.

A runner with normal speed or more is typically always going to go from first to third on a base hit to right field with two out (because he's running on contact and should be well on the way by the time the fielder gets the ball); I have no idea what Infante was doing being caught "in between" on that play.

Omar Infante?

Running on contact?

No way.

The view I had Infante was, what, 10 feet off when Swisher was throwing? Maybe it was my view but it looked like he was getting gunned down. He's certainly no Al Kaline but he has a strong arm. No guarantee he's make it.

My question would be did Lamont put the sign up late or did Infante not look up until late?

I didn't think Infante would make it 2 bases on that as quick as Swisher got to that ball.

Looked to me at least like he would have been a dead duck by 15 feet easy.
