What would it take to fit Revis?

Revis is (again) on the market for trade. He has injury concerns, but he's still one of (if not THE) best CBs in the league. His price tag is exorbitant, surely, and more than we currently have in cap space.

My question, what would it take for the Lions to make room to afford his salary, and could he possibly be worth it?

As a team with almost nothing at CB (though I hold out hope on Bentley and Slay), Revis appears as a godsend. Tampa is going to cut him if they can't trade him, so he'll come cheap in terms of draft picks. Obviously the main issue is salary. Can we afford 15 million under ANY circumstances? And even if we can, is it worth the money for one player? How much would Revis improve the team?

We haven't been linked to Revis so far, but it does make a TON of sense.

Suh to sign an extension. Revis will still get around 8 million per year

He will get cut too, nobody is going to trade for the cap hit

It would take us changing our name to the Jets and moving the team to NJ.

I just think that s a pipe dream... Guys taking major pay cuts I guess.

He will get almost if not double that.

He is not coming to Detroit. Not enough cap space even with a Suh extension. We would have to make a few cuts as well.

i would have been happy with mike mitchell(S)...Revis would mean trading Suh..4 big contracts would be tough

It's not even worth thinking about. Signing Revis to a monster contact would be beyond dumb.

Revis isn't going to get a monster deal, from anyone.

I would guess 8M per for three years, and probably 14M guaranteed. The benefit he has here is by refusing to restructure, he's forcing Tampa to cut him, and he picks his next spot.

At this point in his career any team would be insane to pass on him if the money were right. So now he needs to decide if he wants big money, or a ring. If he's willing to sign on the cheap, he can go to any team in the league an be poised to win a championship.

If he wants 8M per, he's likely a Patriot. If he wants a ring, he can sign for 2M per and go to Denver who cut both starting CBs loose, and pair up with Talib to win it all next year.

If I am Revis, I sign with Denver on whatever they can afford on a two-year deal, win two rings back to back with that new defense, and then look for a bigger payday on the back end of my career. But thats me.

He's made a PILE of cheddar so far, now get the hardware.

If Talib just got an average of 9.5 million per year from the Broncos, why would Revis get only 8??? Is Talib better than Revis? In my opinion, no.

But NE once again got screwed by their AFC rival. They will need to respond this time. Not sure if that will equate to necessarily over paying for revis.....cause that's not who they are. But for damned sure they are going to go after him. My gut tells me he signs there for a discount to be on a contender. And by discount I mean like 8-9 per.

Revis is the top corner in the game, with Sherman right behind him.

However, his knee is still a question, and teams are wary of his constant threats of a holdout.

Right now, several "experts" (and I always use that term loosely) have said they don't expect him to get more than 8M a year if he's cut loose today.

And still the top paid, landing a reported 12 mil deal for one year.

what would it take to get Revis? at least 1 year 13 mil :p

i think for him to have gone to detroit it would have needed to be closer to $15 mil or a 2 year deal with $20 mil in G money.
