that 2011 Under The Lights game was wild... I figured I'd never find where you were, because we went to a med school tailgate in someone's backyard (my friend was doing his residency there at the time), but then I saw that Spanish flag in the yard next to ours.

damn that was 8yrs ago now?! It was definitely UTL, I guess I could have read your post a bit closer. crazy too because we'd normally have been on the golf course but because of the rain, we ended up in Tiny's yard ...the dude's name.

0-1 in person vs. OSU. 1975. Had to work in 1977 and watched on TV. 2-3 since graduation. Wins vs. Illinois in 84 and 88. Losses to Notre Loss in 87, Miami in 1988, and FSU in 91. So were going on 30 years since I've seen a Michigan game in person.

1-1 vs OSU for me. Went to the 100th game in 2003 and the god damn failed 2 pt conversion game in 2013.

‘71, ,73, ‘75, ‘77, ‘82 OSU games. I don’t remember whether I went to the ‘79 game, that would have been my freshman year; I probably didn’t.

What is that - 2-1-2, I think.

Rose Bowls, 1-4, I think.

So you went to an M-OSU game in Columbus?

'92 was a 13-13 tie in Columbus and the natives acted like they'd won. Had a nice gentleman on High St offer to kick my ass for wearing a block M hat.

I declined.

I?ve told the story a number of times but I?m always happy to tell it again.

The U of M Glee Club sang a joint concert with the OSU Glee Club the night before The Game, and yes-we got sideline passes to The Game the next day.

93 was a 13-13 tie in Columbus and the natives acted like they'd won. Had a nice gentleman on High St offer to kick my ass for wearing a block M hat.

I declined.

During the ?82 game, I left the Shoe and walked up and down high street wearing my Michigan glee club windbreaker with pink legwarmers outside my jeans around my ankles.

In retrospect I guess I was going through some shit at the time.

Anyway, I was looking for trouble and trouble found me.

6 OSU students pulled up in the car and dared me to get in.

I did.

Fortunately for all involved-they were all coeds.

And the rest, my friends, is one of the great legends of The Game.

Everytime you tell that story, I think you add another coed to the car.

I went to the GumShoe in '82 when OSU was throttled by FSU and I won $20 from an OSU fan when he overheard me in a normal voice tell my cousin that FSU would "win easily". He was two rows in front of me and was offended. The score was 10-0 OSU at the time, but the final was 34-17 FSU, once they stopped turning the ball over. FSU was a 7-point dog and he gave me the points.

EDIT: Seem's I've related this tale at least one other time on this forum.

That's okay; we're all getting old here, even me.

I checked it out, but couldn't find game stats on wikipedia.

Lol, I did see that the next week, OSU lost 6-0 to Wisconsin at home, in a game that saw Wisconsin score a TD, then get the XP blocked in the 1st Q, and no scoring for the rest of the game.

That would've been another fun one to bet them on.

Last time I went to a homegame (2016) I figured it would be easy to find a tailgate... but two guys I knew who were reliable drinkers/tailgaters for years turned out to have gone completely sober (not too shocking, but a bummer to discover ON gameday when you're heading to Ann Arbor).

Fortunately I had a fallback of a friend of a friend who has run a tailgate for years; never met him in person, but corresponded with him (he runs a big NCAA pool every march).

A fifth of Wild Turkey made me a welcome guest at his tailgate.

Wow! You brought the good stuff. wtf?!!?

Wow! You brought the good stuff. wtf?!!?

Well, it is about $24/bottle.

It made the tailgate host happy; we did a couple shots there, and I left the rest of the bottle.

in exchange we got as much as we could eat (this guy goes all out: has a huge grill, fryer, smoker, etc. plus salads), plenty of beer, and my wife got wine. plus we had a place to hang out and talk to people for a couple hours.

I look at it as cheaper than a meal & multiple drinks for 2.

LOL @ how unhelpful the polling results have been... tie between Army or "all of the above"

suck it, vic. flip a coin.

I had a great Choice of games that our friends in Ann Arbor had me pick from. I was thinking army or Nd. But then my wife said the only Saturday she could go was on the weekend of the Rutgers game :/

Damn it all. ! Then my buddy came through and said I could go to the ND game also because I am 2-0 or 3-0 in ND games lol !

Army.
Iowa.
Rutgers.
ND.
Middle tenn st.

that wasn't one of the options. why did you ask our opinion if you were just gonna go do your own thing in the end?

I was completely against going back for State. I've seen Win #900 and followed my lovely wife and our friend Stephanie down on to the field ...I've seen the muffed punt and sat through the worst sporting event I've ever been to two years ago, on the 50yd line ...perfect view for all the interceptions.

I've also seen Michigan whip state, both in 2006 and as a student. But it's my kiddo's Birthday and Mrs V put her foot down (and flights were a lot cheaper than Army, Iowa or osu).

I may still go back solo for Iowa, ND or osu still ....
