Who claims the win on the wall?

like a Scooby Doo episode...

"OKAY, let's see who's really behind this...

OMG it's Hilary Clinton in a mask!"

?And I would have gotten away with it too, if it hadn?t been for you nosy fucking kids and your stupid fucking dog??

So what stopped Obama's wall from getting built?

did it not get built? All I know about it is the people fighting Trump tooth and nail voted in favor of the Obama's bill and it's not like they didn't know funding for a wall was in there because several of them commented on the need for physical barriers. Whether or not it actually got built isn't the issue - maybe it's just another example of Obama's incompetence (oops, is that racist?).

If it got built, then we don't need to build it, since it's already built.

If it didn't get built, but the Dems wanted it then, who stopped it?

didn't you know that president's never get anything done when their party controls the house? and then after their party loses the house, they don't get anything done.

This is basic politics 101, come on.

if it got built it was something like 290 miles, Trump was looking for about 260 if I recall, presumably for 260 different miles so even if Obama's wall was built, there's apparently at least still 260 miles w/o a wall.

Putin should go to Mexico, visit the wall, and say "Mr. Trump, tear down this wall."

everyone in DC would trip over themselves trying to figure out what to say to that.

For a border that's damn close to 2,000 miles, they're really optimistic on this thing being effective.

the bit you highlighted was sarcasm - the point has been made here that we don't need a wall on the entire border, which I believe everyone including Trump agree with - I think the point was made in a post by Gulo himself so I'm not sure what the point of the questions are.

Right.

Like for example we don’t need a wall along the Gulf of Mexico.

I don’t know where the Maritime border between the United States and Mexico is-I’m too busy right now to look it up but I’ll look it up later, although I would imagine it’s right in the middle between the two landmasses-regardless of where it is, we don’t need a wall there.

EDIT: I couldn’t help myself, I went ahead and look it up and it only took a few seconds.

It seems that most the waters of the gulf are international waters, So it appears there is no specific maritime border so to speak.

But that doesn’t change anything about not needing a wall there.

"The Wall" is nothing but a racist icon for Trump and his white supremecist base. Demonize and marginalize anyone as "THEM" for the angry white guy and keep on that message.

Not only have there been walls, barbed wire, surveillance, dogs, intelligence and any number of other 'border patrol' policies and capabilities for decades ...wait, that's sort of the fucking point.

Only idiots believe that there is no border patrol now or that it isn't very effective and only dumber morons think the US is going to build a massive, actual wall that will A) accomplish really anything and B) be paid for by anyone other than taxpayers, lining Trump contractors pockets.

nobody believes there is no border patrol but everyone agrees it can be more effective. similarly, this isn't about race and has never been about race and only idiots who fall for identity politics bullshit believe it is.

I don't think there are maritime borders in "open waters". I'm pretty sure there is a buffer of about 12 or 15 miles or so that is considered US waters then everything beyond, until you run into a similar range of another sovereign country is considered international waters. A guy I knew in high school used to work on a casino boat in Florida - they couldn't open gaming until they were in international waters and they had to shut it down when they got back to US waters.

I believe there is a maritime border in Lake St. Clair and probably the Great Lakes too but the only Great Lake I've been boating on is southern Lake Michigan - I remember we used to go out on boats, we'd have to be careful about not crossing over if we hadn't registered and gotten permission from the Canadian Coast Guard ahead of time or something like that.

That was before the caravans started

Chapo will prolly end up paying for the wall before all is said and done
