Who claims the win on the wall?

These people exist entirely because of the Trump's wall rhetoric from his campaign though. It served as a political dog-whistle and it was hugely effective getting him through the republican primary.

That’s a point.

I have no idea whether Trump is a racist or not, but I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of people voted for him in the primary because they thought he was.

I didn't respond to this in a reasonable amount of time because the wind is out of my sails too.

Not the loss, but how we lost.

I strongly suspect there's long been a lot of monkey business going on behind the scenes; particularly involving this game. We as fans will never know, but you KNOW the people involved do, and they just aren't going to talk.

at this point if the Big Ten and NCAA can't be bothered to clean it up, I can't be bothered to bring myself to care about the outcome of the game.

Same with basketball; how many championships are going to be vacated before someone steps in and says, "Look for the good of the game, we really have to clean this up?"

It's a great example of a political dog whistle. Coded language that reads differently to different people. Racists heard the call and started holding rallies while supporters claim it's not racist because only some are rapists and shithole countries doesn't imply any specific race and Trump's Muslim ban isn't limited to Muslims and doesn't include all Muslims we just call it that.

no they don't. the race baiting and identity politics has been around since well before Trump. MC has been on that train since I joined this board in 2013. The Dems have been using identity politics and the Saul Alinsky playbook for years now. Trump never called all Mexican's rapists or criminals or bad people. And the idea that Trump mobilized the far right, white supremacist vote for either the primary or the general election is just nonsense - at a minimum, it's nonsense to think that they were what put him over the edge.

Depends on the claim you think I'm making. Don't forget that Trump will claim that a small number of supporters at a rally is the biggest in the nation. That little bit of early support contributed to the snowball.

edit: ...and if you can use language that's not so clearly racist that your potential supporters can't defend it or ignore it while at the same time it gets the other side to point to it as indicative of racism, that's probably just as useful for pulling ahead in a primary. Not a dog while, but that mosquito repelling frequency. Language that trigger the other side will draw you followers.

Trump is a blatant racist. This has been openly documented by people who worked in real estate in NY as well as people on the set of The Apprentice.

And when David fucking Duke says you are the guy ....well that pretty much says all you need to know about Trump, his 'coded' (and not so coded) language.

I should probably clarify my position, that not all Spartans use the word 'barbecue' when they are grilling hotdog. Some, I assume, understand the difference.

Well, thing is...Tulsi Gabbard is the guy now.

David Duke Endorsrs Tulsi Gabbard for 2020.

An endorsement she of course promptly rejected:

Tulsa Gabbard Rejects David Duke Endorsement.

Reagan also rejected David Duke’s endorsement.

As I recall, Trump was kind of noncommittal about the whole thing.

Whether Trump is a racist himself or not, it certainly seems he did not want to alienate the racist to vote.

I don’t know what is in Tulsi Gabbard’s heart, but she really doesn’t much fit the typical profile of a white nationalist.

I don’t know how much of a barometer David Duke is on political candidates and their values.

EDIT: After his initial waffle, Trump apparently finally did reject David Duke’s endorsement.

Trump on emergency declaration: "I didn't need to do this." Not a typo: "I could do the wall over a longer period of time. I didn't need to do this. But I wanted to do it faster."

That's some emergency. Resident Trumpets, please explain this.

If you listen to Ann Coulter?s response to Trump that I posted in #57 (it was a response because he had just talked about her while he was on television literally minutes before), Trump signed a bill this morning that will effectively forbid him from declaring an emergency, and building the wall without Congressional consent, an authority she claims he has had all along, right up until the moment he signed the bill.

She says he?s done. 2020 is out for him. She says she doesn?t think he?ll even pursue the Republican nomination.

I don't see anyone else saying anything about the bill impacting his ability to declare an emergency. Where is she getting this from?

It’s possible that she actually read the bill.

EDIT: So far I see the Guardian and the Daily Beast have picked up on her comments. Those are the only responses I have seen.

Who even does that?!?

More specifically she said there is language in the bill to that end, that will make the administration?s ability to defend their claim of an emergency vastly less effective if he makes such an executive order and it is challenged in the courts - which it will of course be.

Love her opinions or hate them, Ann Coulter seems to frequently be a step or two ahead of the pack in predicting what is going to happen.

Simmer down Ann!

True she did predict he was going to win very early and everybody laughed their asses of at her.

I honestly don't even know what to think about this... is it stupid, or is it bold? Good for the people to know how much of a sham it is, or bad? Hilarious or sad?

guessing like everyone else, it's friday and he's just sick of this week already, and was ready to throw in the towel before he even got to the office.

I called Tulsi Gabbard?s office in DC about an hour ago, looking to join her campaign to win
the California Democratic primary. I was forwarded to a different number, got a message and I left a message for them.
