Who DON'T you want at #23...

We did this thread last year.......who don't you want the Lions to grab at 23?

My answer last year was Eric Ebron.

This year, it's Melvin Gordon. Just like last year, I don't hate the player as much as I would hate this pick because of the value. I think there are RB's just as good (Langford) that will be available in the 3rd or 4th rounds.

I would be upset with the following picks also.....

1. Coleman - RB - Indiana.....same reason as above.
2. Breshard Perriman - WR - UCF....... Perriman's hands are a concern, as is his route-running. Per the NFL Network's Lance Zierlein, Perriman, at 13.8%, had "far and away the worst" drop rate of any early-round receivers last season. He's fast......but so are a TON of other prospects. On the positive side......picking him would give the Lions an unstoppable offense.......in Madden '16!!!

I would say Todd Gurley. But I would be more upset about a trade up. We don't have enough picks to fill the holes we have.

I think at 23 is different than at 10. At 10 the idea is to get a player that can contribute or have and impact for 8-10 years so the pick is more important. I won't be quite upset if they pick a player / position that I don't want. I really don't want a WR or RB there because this draft is so deep at those positions. If they do take one there he better be a steal because they have more pressing needs. I hope they go OL or DT at 23.

Not that he's not a great player, but I do not understand the overstated Todd Gurley love. He's not the next Adrian Peterson or Le'Veon Bell. He might not even be the next Ryan Matthews. I just don't see the greatness on film. And that injury benefitted him by not having to run the 40 at the combine, the guy would have been in the high 4.5s no matter what he pretends he can run.

The next "Le'Veon Bell?" Come on man, you can't compare him to Adrian Peterson, he's played two damn years in the league. I know you love MSU, but pump the brakes on putting Bell up there with Peterson.

Lions are set before the draft even starts and I know they will add depth with picks 23, 54 and 88 no matter what. See what they do at 54 and 88 before you get upset about 23.

There is no pick at 23 that could upset me becuase no matter who it is, the proper thing is to wait and see how they play (more than one year). If we get a good RB or WR so be it. Calvin is getting up there and Bell/Riddick are nice but you can always use more. If we get a bust RB and WR, well the problem is it's a bust not that we took a RB/WR.

Gurley first and foremost....but any RB really.

I agree 100%.

Any offensive skill player, at this point, is a bad pick to me in the first round. That said, if CJ misses any significant time in 2015 we will need another WR to step in.......and there isn't one currently on the roster that can (I'm excluding GT because he's already a starter)....so I wouldn't be too upset with a WR......just not Perriman. He has Stephen Hill written all over him.

La'El Collins. Which is bad, because I really wanted the kid a week ago.

Cops are saying he's not a suspect, but if I'm an NFL team, I don't drop a first round pick on the kid unless I know 100% sure he's not.

Would be just the Lions luck to draft him, and 15 minutes later he's arrested for murder.

An offensive tackle that's not even Projected to play tackle in the NFL. That's what I don't want.

By later, do you mean like

Derrick Williams
Titus Young
Ryan Broyles

Or much later like

Corey Fuller
Tim Toone
TJ Jones

?

Honestly, 5th or later. I don't expect them to work out if we draft a WR but a wasted 5th I'd be fine with. Not even sure we have a fifth.

We do have a 5th from the George Johnson trade.

Heres a question... Say Dorial Green Bekham, a solid top 10 pick prior to his issues, falls to us in rd 2. Do you take him?

6'5 4.49....dunno how you pass that up....
