link.

that's ARRESTED, not merely named in some toothless NCAA investigation. they are:
the coaches were identified in court papers as Chuck Person of Auburn University, Emanuel Richardson of the University of Arizona, Tony Bland of the University of Southern California and Lamont Evans of Oklahoma State.

this CBS article had a little more info (link)

also arrested is an adidas exec who allegedly funnelled $100k to a kid to get him to commit to an Adidas school.

The school was Louisville and the recruit was Brian Bowen.

Brian Dutcher is also involved. Long time assistant for Steve Fisher. What a shock?!

"We got lucky on this one," Pitino said at the time. "I had an AAU director call me and say, 'Would you be interested in a basketball player?' I said ... 'Yeah, I'd be really interested.' But [Bowen and his people] had to come in unofficially, pay for their hotels, pay for their meals. So we spent zero dollars recruiting a five-star athlete who I loved when I saw him play. In my 40-some-odd years of coaching, this is the luckiest I've been."

Brian Bowen got $100K to go to Louisvlle. Pure luck!

normally the fact that the authorities had to step in and conduct their own investigation and arrests would be hugely embarassing to the NCAA.

but these days, I wonder if most fans - especially in SEC country - are just confused by this news. "Wait... what exactly did Adidas and Louisville do wrong here?" :hmm:

I would also be surprised if the NCAA actually did anything beyond shrugging and saying "well, somebody's punishing somebody. no need for us to get involved."

I wonder if The University of Arkanasas-Pines Bluff will even make it through all of this without the Death Penalty. They may not have a university anymore after the FBI and NCAA is done looking into Louisville.

DOJ's message to other coaches: “It’s better for you to call us than for us to be calling you when we’re ready to charge you.”

When will the NCAA nail the SEC and ACC football programs to the wall for the same infractions?

Marvin Bagley Jr., the #1 player in the 2018 class who reclassified to the 2017 class recently and committed to Duke, is reportedly player #11 in this case. If he's ineligible it's a huge blow to Duke, kid is basically the next big thing, a once in a decade type talent. Seriously, the kid was the #1 player for the 2018 class and reclassified to the 2017 class and is the #1 player in that class.

espn has several, stories with names and the identity of cooperating witness

Louisville and Miami also under investigation

FBI kept this secret

Yeah, this isn't an NCAA thing it's an FBI thing..

Louisville may get the death penalty for this, in light of everything else that has already happened there. Pitino is most certainly toast, right??

Sort of similar to how Tattgate broke. It wasn't the NCAA or BigTen, it was a Federal Drug sting that involved the tattoo shop and all the osu cheating was simply part of the larger investigation into the drug ring. Never would have likely surfaced otherwise.

you bring up Tattgate. Reminds me that this thread needs more pics of the Three Stooges:
