Why exactly are we so worried?

This team is nothing like the '06 and '09 squads. Sure there are some fundamental similarities such as questionable defense and lack of team speed, but just look at the rosters. The '06 team was largely inexperienced with late season baseball and probably let off the gas pedal once they clinched the postseason berth. The '09 group had the offensive black hole at the bottom of the lineup with Laird, Everett, and Inge. The DH has for sure gotten progressively better over the seasons. Martinez > Sheffield > Thames. And now we have 3 guys in the starting line-up that know how do drive down the stretch to a divsion title. V-Mart and Peralta with the Indians and Young with the Twins. They won't let the guys let up. Then there's Cabby. Instead of going on a bender late in the season he's been on fire the last couple of weeks. Plus the Sox and Indians are nowhere near the teams that the Twins were. I really don't think we have anything to worry about this time.

Who is worried and what are they worried about?

One of the central teams needed to sweep last week to stay in it, and neither won a game. It was pretty much over after that.

Worried, lmao. I'm not sure what's more silly, someone worrying or a poster who makes a thread about others who worry when in fact they don't worry.

I was never worried, just not counting my chickens so to speak, before we swept the Indians.

Everyone was saying we had it locked up when we swept the Sux, but Cleveland was always the bigger threat, mostly because they get the last say, and have given us a bit more trouble this season.

But barring a catastrophic meltdown of history-making proportions, we have the division sewn up, the only question is, will we be the 2,3 or 4 seed.

I'm still a little worried. I'm confident but I was four the last time the Tigers won a pennant, I'd like to see it actually happen and won't be sure it's gonna happen until we've eliminated the competition.

A lot of the folks that call into 97.1....but most callers to that station are dumb
