Why is Larkin in HOF and Trammell Isn't?

The answer is that Larkin was a better player.

If you look at the numbers he is just better by a smidgen and that is it.
If Larkin and Smith are in so should Trammell... It is very frustrating that Larkin got in so easily and it is a joke..

Don't compare Larkin. Compare O. Smith because Tram smoked him when it came to who is a better ball player.

I agree 100%. I think Tram was a better player than Smith. If Tram could do a backflip he would be in the HOF right now.

Too many fans confuse the Hall Of Fame with it being Hall Of Best Numerical Players.

Sometimes players are voted-in for their accomplishments / milestones. Take a look at what separated Larkin from others. Take a look at what separated Tram from others.

That may tell you why one is in - the other isn't.

I look at Tram and Ozzie. Ozzie had more all star games. Popularity contest plus Tram was up against Ripken. This award doesn't matter. He won more GG, again against Ripken though I will give in that Smith was better. Offense it was all Tram. My point being if Ozzie can get over 90% on a 1st ballot and Tram does even get half that in many ballots, something is fk'd up. When people say its because of the back flip, they're dead on. H's in because of it and only because of it.

That is the whole point of the article and what we are saying.. There is not that much separation between the two at all.. If fact Alan was a better fielder then Larkin and Alan's second place finish in the MVP race was so much better then Larkin's stats the year he won it plus Alan was better in the clutch by far over Larkin..
