Well, I'm not gonna rag the kid, he got put in a tough spot, to fill in for a guy who'd be a #1 on any other team in the central.

But it's clear Wilk is nowhere near ready for MLB hitters, hopefully Turner is ready when we need him then, because I don't look forward to seeing Oliver either.

Not too mention he really got some run support while up. Tigers scored 1 against Chicago, 3 against Texas and 1 Against Seattle. Yea that will make you want to do your best. Really thoe up until tonight he had only given 4 earned runs in 9 innings. Tiger offense really gave him some support.

unfortunately, Villarreal sucks just about as much as Wilk does, so this is basically a sideways move for a fresh bullpen arm.

I agree... I understand going Young but this seems to happen a lot with the Tigers...
Bring up Turner to soon. Wilk sent down after 3 starts... Oliver got shelled.. Porcello had a decent rookie year but has gone flat. I know I am forgetting others but why not go out and get a veteran who know how to pitch... God I miss Brad Penny... Fuck shoot me...

heh, i dont think i will ever miss brad penny.

When Wilk pitched the one ST game with Oliver & Smyly he was, as I recall, the least effective. Smyly really looked good & I believe he will be a keeper the rest of the way. Villarreal I agree shows me nothing. Sad to say, but ditto Oliver. Marte? Could also be a keeper when he gets healthy. Damn, how I wish one of these young pitchers could prove me wrong; Below looks like he may, as I was only marginally impressed with his performance last season, but Wilk, Ollie & Vill are all really at least a year or 2 away...if ever.

I don't miss Penny either, it wouldn't be any different if he was still here. JMO. What we miss is Fister and an offense.

I say bring up Worth and Brad Eldred. Let Eldred DH and give Worth the 2B job.

How many times do you think a team can get away with doing that before the players revolt? Does anyone think that it's good for the make up of a team to take the bottom 4 guys and send them down and bring up journeyman minor leaguers? We are still in April and the team is right at the top with a winning record.

I think it's a little more important to build a team, especially when there is not urgency based on the standings, than jumping at the first nobody to rake in the minors.

I think there's a video game mindset seeping into the discussion.

This is mostly about Eldred, I mean c'mon. As far as Worth goes, he may as well get a shot. I would caution people against expecting miracles, though. And don't get me wrong, sometimes moves need to be made. But, there are risks to consider.

I admit I was derating Joe Saunders, but he's posting some decent numbers these days.

what players are going to revolt? Inge, Rayburn....who cares. Career minor leaguers are better than these guys.

I think Inge and Raburn are a detriment to the team. Sometimes you need to wake the club up with some moves.. Inge is dead weight period, and waiting for RR to heat up is a terrible way to run a club... If you were Worth what would you be thinking.. Why perform at Toledo I mean the Tigers are never going to give him a extended shot... We need a jolt of youth and enthusiasm on this team....

It's a sad day when 26 year old underachieving Danny Worth is a jolt of youth.

I'm not against changes, I'm only saying that you can shuffle the deck a limited amount of time before the workplace becomes hostile.

Sure, these guys are millionaires and all that, but sometimes it's relevant to remember that it is still a workplace.

There's no need to panic. Some moves may improve the team, others will look like panic. Tread carefully, I think.

In a sample size of 9 innings, ER doesn't really tell you anything about how he pitched.

He gave up how many hits to Texas?

He was bound to get bombed, and if he comes back up he'll get bombed again.

He just doesn't have what it takes to get ML hitters out.

Worth is just the new flavor of the month.

It's not like he's a good baseball player, he's not, he sucks.

And he shouldn't get time over Santiago at 2B, so he's really only gonna have a utility role at best.
