Woodley wanted to come to Detroit

He might not have been a fit but take the man's call.

Take his call for what? Oh, because he's a Detroit kid? Or because he went to Michigan? Sorry, that's not the way it happens. He obviously wasn't a fit.

Now this is the part where you tell me that the Lions are the only team in the NFL that would disrespect someone lke this. Go ahead lol

I would have took his call, we signed that plug Daryl Tapp instead. I'd rather a has been than a never was.

Darryl Tapp is a backup/depth guy. Much cheaper. Why go after a guy who has more mileage on his tires and has suffered more injuries in his career? Because he was a great player at one point in his career? No thanks.

If I had the choice I'd take Woodley, neither is going to make an impact one way or another, Woodley may have some leadership qualities actually being a key contributor and Super Bowl winner rather than a bum. Not really worth arguing about though.

Woodley has been the better player, yes. Can't argue that lol

No smart ass..just to see what he wanted. It takes 12 seconds.

Has he played in a 4-3 since college? There are only so many roster spots and he'll probably get some guaranteed money which means you most likely aren't cutting the guy if he's too old/doesn't work in the scheme. Not sure I really fault them for not taking his call.

Wasn't he the one that was deciding on detroit before he signed his last contract with the steelers? I can't remember. It would be both messed up and funny if he spurned detroit the first go around and now wouldn't mind playing there.

Everyone is dogging the Darryl Tapp signing... I assume it was more of a Idonije replacement, but I think the guy is looking to prove himself and will have a pretty good season if he can beat out some of the young guys for some PT. Liked the article and hope he can give us some productive snaps this year, I mean hey you said the guy was a never been, but he did have 7 sacks one year which I know I isn't spectacular, but I would take that in a heartbeat.

washburn has worked with him...its the obvious reason hes here. Comforting to know we have some depth on the dline that has been vouched for by our dline coach...he'll know exactly how to use him. Why would anyone hate that?

His best year with Washburn he had 3 sacks and 28 tackles. He's Idonije's replacement. Like this Roto article states, if he sees significant time it we're in trouble. I don't think anyone hates the signing but he's nothing more than a body at this point.

oh for sure....if he sees any significant time ill be the first one starting a I hate mayhew thread :D

Weren't you the one spouting off yesterday that this team did nothing in FA to provide any depth?

correct....but the problem with DE is we have no starter lol. We have a ton of mediocre talent opposite Ansah.

IDK man I am looking forward to seeing what Devin Taylor can do.... Hoping he can just run away with the job, I mean the kid is a BEAST and has all the physical attributes to be a productive DE. I mean look at how Clowney's production dropped after he wasn't opposite or Taylor.... Dropped significantly. I am by no means saying Clowney isn't good, but I am trying to say don't sleep on Taylor. He played well in a limited role last year and hopefully the staff we retained saw something in him that they want to give him a shot at the starting spot. We shall see... Can't wait till the draft.

I won't completely argue that (wow) lol. Maybe another DE in the second rd? I like Devin Taylor to step up big time this year.
