Would you guys be for/against trading out of the 1st round?

Ah.. the if it ain't fixed don't break it approach?

Not at all. I am a big fan of firing ANY general manager if you can get a better one.

I don't care if you've been to three straight SuperBowls, if you believe there is a better GM than the one that got you there, fire his ass and get the better one.

What I am saying is I am not a fan of firing the GM for the sake of firing him. It creates instability in an organization struggling to find a winning identity, and no matter what, that has never been a successful business move.

Firing Mayhew because he didn't win a playoff game is a stupid move. Firing Mayhew because you have a much better candidate willing to take the job is a very smart move, and doing so has nothing to do with his playoff record.

If there is a great GM candidate out there, pull the trigger, but don't fire for the sake of firing. And I have no idea who is out there considered the next wiz kid. I don't know enough about those potential guys. So I can't say one way or another if there is someone we should be looking at.

If there is, fire Mayhew today, and it won't bother me a bit. I just want to know there is someone.

Mayhew has done a good job. There is no one out there better. This team is good enough to win a playoff game and Super Bowl.

You mean, there's no one better for the Lions, or there's no one better in the NFL?

Absolutely you can still bring up Millen. The Lions organization is very much still feeling the effects of his time here. It's an extremely valid point to this day.

I could make a very strong argument that paying Suh $9M this year is on Millen.

I think in the Nancy's NEED to blame everything on Mayhew you're missing the fact that Millen's SUCK is still having an effect.

No you can't..and Suh is entirely Mayhew. No one forced him at gun point to keep on restructuring him..Teams should able to move on after 8 years..Are we still blaming Barry Sanders leaving early for our RB struggles?

Different sports but the Tigers moved on past 2003.

The restructures got us Quin, Levy and Tulloch and a great 11-5 record. And also helped to secure Ansah and Slay (instead of Milliner and someone else). Now we have Ngata and Walker, good DEs and a great back 7.

Old CBA caused the restructures. Adding talent was a must in 2012 and 2013.

If Suh was on the franchise tag at 19 million, guess what, we would have had to restructure people this year instead of 2012/2013. We would be over the cap if we had Suh at 19 million instead of Ngata at 8.5 million.

What's even sadder is we've made the playoffs only 11 times in 57 years. 6 are Barry's years. Pathetic..

Delmas was hurt. Spievey played solid in 2011. And then got hurt early in the season. More trickery. Injuries and solid play in 2011 followed by poor play in 2012.

Avril, KVB, Willie Young, Jackson had potential going into 2012. But they decided to stink. Draft Ansah and add Jones was the response. A great response.
He knew delmas was hurt. ...he rolled with spievey and carey. Fn brilliant.

He fired linehan so he could hire a guy that doesnt even have his own playbook and has never called a play before in his life....

Don't care if they go 16-0, it's irrelevant without postseason success.

Though in this town they probably raise banners for playoff appearances. That seems to be the level of success that a portion of the fanbase finds acceptable. Almost any other city, and 11-5 with a first round exit is nothing special, in some cases a disappointment.

This team has been nothing but talk since I started following them, time to prove they can actually succeed.

Good teams win playoff games.

Lions did enough to beat Dallas. Almost had HFA throughout the playoffs. 11-5 clearly shows they were a good team compared to one game where they got screwed by the refs.

Spievey was solid in 2011 and got hurt early in 2012. Carey actually got hurt in training camp too and played well at safety in 2012 once he finally returned. It was Wendling and Spievey/Erik Coleman (who was hurt in 2011).

Delmas got re-hurt in training camp (other knee). He did not know Delmas would hurt his other knee in TC in 2012. So you are dead wrong as usual. Delmas was very durable until late 2011. 2009, 2010, most of 2011. His knee got caught in the turf on Thanksgiving. It's like you have no memory hughes.

Yup i remember him stating publically that he misjudged the talent and depth in the seconday. Nice job...

But they didn't. And that's why 11-5 records don't mean a thing.

They show the team is a good team. They mean something. Especially going forward with a similar roster and good DTs in Ngata/Walker still. The Lions will be a good team in 2015. They have 11 win talent clearly.

Everyone got hurt. He didn't misjudge anything. Delmas hurt his other knee (unexpectedly), Spievey got a concussion early in the season and was done and Carey got hurt in TC.

Coleman was an unknown after missing most of 2011.

And you know what Mayhew did, he went out and got Quin (after restructuring Suh). Great move. Then he went out and got Dig in 2014 after Delmas played for peanuts on a backloaded deal for us in 2013.

And 2012 record got us Ansah, Slay and Warford. Worth it. Long term

I hope Seattle has Thomas shred his knee and Chancellor get a concussion Week 4. They'll fucking suck if that happens too.
