They are saying these are the two key players.

About 2 hours ago the word was the mariners were about to get a "young impact bat".
Huge trade, past 2/3 years all we have heard and saw last year was Jesus Montero, now traded for Pineda all 6'7' 270 pounds.

Remember reading the ESPN Yanks message board where many were predicting that they would get King Felix during the off-season...oh well, they are going to have to settle for Pineda and Campos instead, not too bad of a deal really, and the Mariners get a little more help for their largely putrid offense...

Meanwhile, their ALED rival RedSox have been relatively quiet so far during this off-season, after their monumental and disastrous last-minute WC-losing, September collapse, and despite being one of the clubs who made the biggest news during the prior '11 off-season.

I imagine that the Yankees now having made some fairly significant moves to bolster their rotation, has caused, or soon will cause the RedSox Nation to get just a little bit more "fidgety" about their '12 team and its chances of fully recovering from its September swoon??

lol.

This is Horseshit the Mariners could've gotten so much more for Pineda

I dunno, maybe they could or should have, but good-hitting and young catchers aren't exactly plentiful in MLB, but that of course goes hand in hand with having good defense as well, so in Montero's case, the Mariners are obviously gonna need him to continue to work on improving his defense behind the plate, and on offense when @ the plate as well.

He'll end up at 1B, they could have gotten Mike Stanton for him

redsox were very interested in Kuroda.

Michael Pineda held right-handed hitters to a .184 opponents batting average last season, best in MLB (minimum 200 batters faced).
New Yankee Michael Pineda had a 4.73 ERA in 9 starts against the AL East last season, including 1 vs Yankees (3.29 vs other opponents).

Well, it IS the Mariners after all, and considering what division that they are unfortunately in, and their extremely slim chances of even finishing near .500 next season, they may HAVE to move King Felix sooner or later, b/c they suck on the field and especially at the plate, The Mariners should have moved Ichiro at least 5 years ago, when he still had good value, IMO.

But I do not think Kuroda will Not fair well in the american league. he is 3-8 with a 4.33 era in inter-league play..

Pineda probably will struggle in Yankee Stadium

I would take Ichrio right now for one or two years if he would be cheap.. I think his .310 OBP is a aberration last year. He will be back up to the .350 range this year... All the Tigers really need is a lead-off hitter and a decent number two hitter and Miguel will drive in 150...

Almost only counts in horseshoes and hand-grenades, as we Tigers fans learned to our dismay in '11, '06, and especially '09.

I would take Ichiro for more if it was necessary, b/c our so-called leadoff "hitter" is absolutely, positively fucking abysmal.
