This young man reminds me so much of Darryl Strawberry at this point. So much talent, and seems to be looking for ways to flush it down the toilet as fast as he can.

Darryl was probably the most talented player I ever saw play... and shoved that talent up his nose by the straw full.

Puig might be the most talented player in the game today, and just can't seem to get out of his own way.

Later clarification said it was his sister,

MLB To Investigate Yasiel Puig For Role In Bar Incident.

Puig is a young and seemingly immature hothead. Part of it might be he is unable to control his temper into positive outlets, another might be lack of Hispanic players on the Dodgers, don't know their roster. Fighting with a bouncer tells me he is fearless but also reckless.

There is a small bit of talk that the Tigers with their roster of veteran Hispanics might trade for him and get him to settle down.
idk, the upside of talent has alot of buyer beware with his lack of focus to play the game the right way.

Police: Dodgers' Puig suffers injuries in bar fight; MLB to investigate.

As a big fan of his rival D-Backs, I can tell you he has little to no respect for other hispanic players, or even players of cuban descent. He's called out Luis Gonzalez, El Duque, and Livan Hernandez in the past.

I don't think putting this guy with a group of hispanic/latin players is going to help. He just thinks he's bigger than the game, and bigger than his peers to boot.

He's 24, so he's young and can still learn a little respect for the game, but it's a gamble I wouldn't want my team to take.

... I should clarify my previous post. He's a "Cuban 24"... so probably 46.

We don't know if there's addictive behavior involved with Puig as there was with Strawberry (although typically bar fights involve abuse of alcohol, at least at the time).

Addiction is way more problematic than a person just having a short fuse.

EDIT: He had that weird experience getting out of Cuba. Who knows what that did to his head.

Oh, I have no reason to believe he has any addiction issues. He may very well have, but I've heard no rumors or reports to that effect.

My comparison to Strawberry was simple from the perspective of "Look at the amount of talent this guy is throwing away".

Strawberry was the most gifted ballplayer I ever watched play. Had he been able to keep his head in the game, instead of a straw up his nose, he would have done things that baseball and never seen, and would never see repeated.

Instead, he threw more than a decade of his career in the toilet chasing his demons. Puig has a talent that can't be quantified, it's off the charts. And he's doing the same thing, but with immaturity and bad decisions.
