Zack Zenner on IR with cracked ribs and collapsed Lung...

Didn't see the game, what kind of hit results in cracked ribs and a punctured lung???

NM, just saw the play. Didn't look all that different from many hits during the course of every game. S made a solid hit that protected the first down. Just glad it wasn't a dirty type of hit.

Sucks for ZZ. That was a nice run on the play too. Hope he makes a full recovery and comes back even better next year. Yeah, sorry Mitch, I know you fucking hate him being on the team, blah, blah, blah. Kid was averaging 3.5 ypc, he is capable of playing well enough to at a minimum be the #3 back, pretty good for a UDFA in his first year, and I wouldn't say he has peaked as he made some mistakes but runs hard and most importantly protects the ball when running.

How can anyone hate ZZ being on this team???? And I'm not talking about the cutesy PR story of an UDFA from SDSU. I'm talking about his abilities. Kid is a bull with quick feet and the vision to change direction on a dime which is virtually unseen by back his size. He rarely goes backwards. 3 and 2 or 2nd and long - I'm giving it to him all day every day. Joique can dance around before losing 2 yards. AA can run like hell for the edge right before he fumbles.

Zenner quick feet and vision? Guy is a one-cut runner essentially. Against Arizona (only game with extensive playing time), He had 30 yards on 10 carries. Including a 12 yard and a 9 yard carry. That means his other 8 carries got 9 yards. So must be losing some yards at some point.

The guy is a nice change of pace back, good value for an UDFA being on the roster, but he is nothing special.

I don't hate the guy but it's just like AA, where after the SD game everyone wanted him to get more touches like he was going to be a superstar. Apparently we're hurting at RB so much that you guys are getting really carried away with how great you think these guys are.. After one decent play.

wow...the way you describe him he should have been a 1st round pick! Are you his agent or his brother?

He was our best RB option this year. With how Abdullah is doing, I think ZZ would've seen a majority of the carries this year going forward with Riddick getting his reps as usual. Kinda frustrating that Abdullah did nothing to seperate himself from the pack of rbs, and even lost his role cuz he can't hang onto the ball. I don't think Abdullah has a future in the NFL, Im holding my breath every time he touches the ball.

No one has proven anything. And that goes especially for Zenner. A player needs more than 10 yards a game to be worth mentioning. I just look at it that Zenner is the flavor of the month for Lions hopefuls. Bell, AA and now Zenner. Next in line. Winn.

with proper coaching (obviously that means NOT the current Lions coaches) AA could correct his fumble issues. tiki barber fumbled quite often until he was coached up.

sad that a talented RB with skills could be hated so much because he has yet to be coached properly.

I can see the Lions releasing AA only to have the Giants snatch him up, coach him up, and turn him into another of their RBs who helps them win another Super Bowl.

Again, what do you see that makes him talented? Take his fumbles away and he's still not good. Face it, our best RB is Matt Stafford.

AA is cheap for 3 more years after this one. He'll stay.

AA has great elusiveness and vision and hits the hole well.

4 fumbles suck (only one lost) but if he gets the blocking finaly, his production should justify the occasional fumble. We weren't even talking about this before the Cardinals game( four games).

you guys who bash on ZZ, please list the specific requirements that you demand a RB do in order to make you happy.

seems like unless the guy scores a TD on every carry he's a piece of shit to some of you.

IF...that's a HUGE "IF"...the OL actually blocks, he gets to the second level quickly. even if they are not the best of blocks, he has the strength to break arm tackles. he also protects the ball. he averaged 3.5 ypc behind arguably the worst run blocking OL in the NFL and worst OC in Lions history.

think about that for a second. the worst OC in Lions history. embrace the SUCK.

Ah, the ole' "lets blame the offensive line." They get blamed for Matt's trouble, Matt does well and it's all Matt. RB's do well, it's the RB. They don't do well, lets blame the OL.

The protection was much better this game. Lowest on the year at 30% pressure of his drop backs. This allows Matt to shine more.

Run game was also better. Better down and distance, Stafford makes some plays.

Oline support and run game support. At least average is needed. If he doesn't get one or both, it makes it much harder for any QB. Especially a less mobile QB.

Same with a small RB. If there is no blocking, Abdullah will have a tough time. Just look at both his rushing fumbles in the last two games, there was a guy in his face in the backfield on both plays (Jefferson and Acho). He spun out of Jefferson but Jefferson caught him and knocked it out. Acho knocked it in the backfield. ST kick off fumble he was trying to do way too much.

I expect him to get more than 71 yards in 6 games. I expect more than 3.5 YPC. Blame the OL all you want, it's not just them..

So give some examples of Zenner missing his holes and reads or not breaking tackles.

Bell played early. That will take carries away. Plus AA and Riddick do get carries too. Plus a pass heavy with the Oline problems and injuries.
