Iglasias fight

Where the hell is the "veteran" leadership? Where was the coaching staff or manager? And why weren't they the ones approaching Iggy?

It might have been the right thing to do, but a rookie was the wrong person conveying the message.

frankly it doesn't bother me, I'm happy to see some damn fire and passion from these guys! Use it! let it focus you, if you don't like the shitty season you've had thus far then stop losing

The early 70's Oakland A's did plenty of that; clubhouse fighting Billy North and Reggie Jackson got into it. They won, of course they had a good hitting team and better pitching starters and bullpen.

Iggy, from watching both plays, the first imo I don't think he had a play at first and he held on to the ball just getting the force at second. The grounder....imo he could have dove for it, but as it's been said, he makes so many out of zone and highlight reel plays, he draws a pass from me.
But McCann, feeling that he is the field general as he has stated because he is the catcher, thought differently. Maybe he had a legit reason, But, it could have/should have been done in the clubhouse, not on display in the dugout.
All of this definitely bothered Iggy, my thought is he didn't like being called out in front of everyone, maybe he did dog it on that play, and was embarrassed, something was amiss with him at some point during the game, as we could see he gave his last at bat away with three swings/hacks, the last on a fastball up and away.
He was between Simon who is huge, and Marte when Gose came over and pulled his jersey up from the neck, that was wrong no matter what Iggy was chirping or continued talking about.
Fortunately, cooler heads were there from the get go with Castellanos and Kinsler breaking it up between them.

I think everyone on the team is frustrated,

It will an interesting offseason, to see who is let go, who is signed, who is traded away.

This right here.

If the problem was so obvious (I didn't think it so) shouldn't Omar Visquel or Gene, or Brad have handled it? Iggy is hands down the best defensive player on our team. Not to mention one of the, if not the best defensive SS in all MLB. I don't blame him for taking offense when a rookie catcher who's tools still leave a lot to be desired, calls him out semi-publicly.

This is another strike against Brad in my book.

IDK how most of you feel, but growing up, it seems everyone I bumped heads with turned into a great friendship. Lets hope Iggy gets the picture, and realizes playing major league baseball isn't a picnic.

McCann and Gose will be on the bench or out of the game in 5 years.

Iglesias will still be an All Star in 5.

Nuff' said.

WHAAAAT!
Hahahahahahahahaha!
Sorry, not to be rude but that is insane. Iglesias is an All Star, future Gold Glover, with the potential to have a HoF career, for sure.

But, McCann in his rookie season is hitting in the .280s and fielding his position (probably much) better than Avila who (say what you want about his bat) is one of the better catchers in the league.
McCann has future All Star and Gold Glove potential written all over him. And according to David Price who knows an infinity more on the subject than you do, he is also future captain material.

As for Gose, he is less clearly destined for All Starness or Gold Gloves, but he has a heck of an arm, he's fast (not quite a pure center fielder like others, but his speed is what CF at Comerica needs), his average is .261 and his OB% is .303. Almost all of his offensive stats have improved over his rookie year. This is a good sign.
He's been scuffling lately, but being moved down in the order should help him.
Maybe Gose will be a bench warmer in the bigs in a few years, maybe he will have a break out year next season (you know, sort of like Iglesias is having this year). I don't know. But I know for a fact that YOU don't know either.
If he doesn't get any better he will be a starting outfielder in the bigs for years to come, that is for sure.

I could care less if iggy is going to be a allstar. If he is lazy on a play once he will do it again..maybe now he wont. I hate players who are above taking criticism. This team needs to get freaking tougher... anyway anyhow..

Gose ended up a platoon player unless he shows he can hit left handed pit hers unfortunately. ..

You said Gose was a good hitter. He's not even average. Good defender, but has no place starting on any team. McCann is going to be solid. Iggy is like polanco with the bat. Good for average, nothing else. Great defense, but he is a dipshit and clearly thinks he's above the game and the rest of his teammates. Someone calls you out for not hustling and you start throwing arms and objects at him? I don't want that guy on the team. McCann is the real teammate here. Gose and Iggy can piss off.

Pretty sure Iggy touched your little sister or something back in 2013. You've had a problem with him since day 1. You couldn't be more biased on this topic.

Go check out his .287 OBP against RHP. McCann has hit against LHP and stunk it up against RHP. Those are facts..if you determine those numbers are good, that's okay. You're entitled. But they're not. Even with his sub .200 average against RHP, Avila stills has a better OBP. That's how bad McCann is against RHP.

I also won't call him a good defensive catcher until he can call a better game. He's young and he could get better but McCann is not having a "damn good season."

Gose :lmao:

One more thing on hustle.. MLB, players get a hit to left, they slow down as they get to first, infield pop up they don't run hard to first, deep fly and batters looks at it too long and when it's off the wall can barely get to 2nd, some just to first.

So I think I'll give a pass to Iggy on this one.

You realize that we're talking about a rookie catcher, right? Jesus, if the Tigers listened to your guys' opinions when we first brought up J.D. Martinez, he'd be mashing homers somewhere else. I remember people calling J.D. "Organizational fodder" and arguing with me when I said he had a chance to be good. You realize Avila ****ing sucks against RHP AND LHP, right? I don't give a shit about his game calling, which has slipped big time this year anyway without Scherzer and with Sanchez struggling. Maybe the pitchers' success isn't so much about the catcher after all, eh? With the amount of big time hitting shortstops coming in to the league, Iglesias is going to look pretty mediocre overall in a couple years. Like I said, who cares about Gose. That dude clearly sucks.

What about his mediocre fielding percentage? He's made 10 errors this season.. not really "gold glove" caliber like everyone says. He's basically Inge at Shortstop. Good for flashy plays, but not reliable.

No one is saying McCann doesn't have a future. Just disagree on him having "a damn good year" in 2015. I wonder if you actually read what people post or do you already have your mind made up. And what you missed was Avila has a sub .200 against RHP and still gets on base more than McCann does against RHP so how is Avila bad and McCann good.

Funny you bring up JD when you thought the same with Iggy.

Ozzie Smith has double digit errors 15 times in his career. Many were over 20. The good ones have incredible range that they get credit with a few errors.

Ozzie Smith is Inge I guess :lmao:

In-fact of all his years where he played full time, only one year was less than 10.

Lol.

He gets to more balls/plays then other SS's. More total chances, gonna be more errors.

I disagree comparing him to Cringe.

We would hope that McCann can improve on his BA OBP and SL vs. RHP to warrant him playing more vs. them. but he is 25 so how much room for improvement is there to be had?

What I/we would like to see is an improvement in game calling and pitch framing.
He started last night off with about 15 straight fastballs for Norris to throw before mixing in any changeups or sliders.

Another tidbit, Smith career FLD% is .978, very good for a flashy, rangy SS. Iggy, .980. Just to keep it in perspective. Inge never played SS.

Iggy is already an all star

That guy will probably be an all star every year.
But I agree with your point.
