Decided to start a thread dedicated to roster moves...who got called up, who got sent down, who's next to be called up, etc. I see a lot of talk about them in game threads but thought it would be a cool idea to have a thread to keep going.

I'll start with as of last night I saw:

Miggy to DL and Grayson Greiner called up?

IMO don't need to carry 3 catchers. I'd rather see Christin Stewart but the problem is where do you play him. I'd rather him get a shot at DH, can't be much worse that Victor hitting .222 with .639 OPS.

just like in the other thread...who plays 1B if you call up Stewart? What's the point of carrying 2 DH's

Haha, we're playing tag, just replied over there but I'll post it here too.

Hicks, who is already on the roster. If him or McCann get hurt, then call up Greiner. Didn't Nick get a few reps at 1B in the spring? or was that my imagination? LOL

if Hicks is the full-time 1B while Miggy is out, they are actually only carrying one Catcher.

I don't know about Nick getting reps at 1B. I hope they didn't...he needed the reps in RF

I like to check the numbers down there once in a while, IMO the guys kicking butt should earn the first considerations.

Hardy has been good
Still got Duce down there also.

Sometimes there are other considerations. Mahtook is making ML money - granted not much but nonetheless. Also they need a guy on their 40 .. have you looked on their 40, of the ones still in the minors - holy crap is it bad.

A valid point, in that case, terrible job with the 40 man Al Avila.

True but the best they have don't yet need to be on the 40. I just hope we have a couple more Candelario's down there..

With even an adequate bullpen the Tigers would be .500

Have to be at least mildly happy with that....or discouraged the bullpen is that bad.

They have just as many wins as they do Quality Starts. Which means they are exactly where they should be.

I really don’t understand why Christin Stewart hasn’t been brought up yet. He’s absolutely crushing and by everything that I’ve read this season his defense has looked better

offensive production by the Tigers LF this season. (Jones, Mahtook, Goodrum & Reyes)

.193 BA
.236 OBP
.556 OPS

these guys can't be THAT much better defensively than Stewart.

not on the 40 likey a factor. they'll have to decide if they want to keep Reyes or allow him to go back to AZ on rule 5. Maybe just DFA meathook and get him up here. idk..

Being on the 40 is always a difficulty.. But honestly they should just release Mahtook. Jones plays CF while Martin is out so I see no reason for Mahtook any longer.

If I had to pick either Reyes or Mahtook to keep, I'd keep Maktook. He had a very productive year last year up until he got injured. He's not hitting now but he's cheap and under contract and I think he's a great bounce back candidate.

348 AB
.276 AVG, .330 OBP, .457 SLG, .787 OPS, 12HR, 15 DOUBLES, 6 TRIPLES, 23BB

If I had to choose between the two, I would keep Reyes. He's only 23 and had better minor league numbers. There is more upside with him.

All I know is Stewart is 24 after being drafted from college. What are they waiting for? Being 'em up and see if he can play.
