1960s All MLB Team (Tigers included)

Again, it's not a team of the decade.

It's the best single season at each position during the 60's, and who had it.

"The following are the greatest seasons, by position, in the major leagues between 1960 and 1969.".

Sorry, the title "The MLB all decade team" threw me off.

every time I see Kofaxs' stats, I wonder how he even made the hall. sure he had 3 or 4 great seasons, but the others, including the 1st 7 that was bad years.

Yeah Koufax never had the longevity to ever really have been considered a true ace.

Take away the four no hitters and the three Cy Young Awards and the MVP year and the five times leading the league and ERA and the four times leading the league in strike outs and what did he really do?

Bob Gibson's another one who really wasn't as good as everybody thought.

The only reason he won 20 games 5 times and 18+ another 3 is that every time a hitter went to the plate against him, the hitter knew that if he got a two base hit or more, at some time in the near future he'd go up there again and get plunked.

Years ago, I went through Gibson start by start...I was amazed at the number of 1-0 losses he had.

So they tanked?

"It was said that I threw, basically, five pitches—fastball, slider, curve, change-up, and knockdown. I don't believe that assessment did me justice, though. I actually used about nine pitches—two different fastballs, two sliders, a curve, change-up, knockdown, brushback and hit batsman." - Bob Gibson, "Stranger to the Game".

I don't disparage Koufax's induction. Most of his underwhelming seasons occurred before he was 25 and the reason why was because of his BB/9 ratio. Once he solved that, he was lights out like virtually no one else ever. Sometimes, there are valid exceptions and he's one of them.
