1st 1/2 Cy award

Weaver
3.91 xFIP
2.3 WAR

Verlander
3.31 xFIP
3.8 WAR

Verlander has about 45 more innings pitched than Weaver.

Weaver has a lower BABIP thus far.

The Angels defense is much better than the Tigers.

Sorry, but anybody who would ignore Verlanders IP advantage and give it to Weaver, is dumb.

and anyone who doesn't believe your best hitter should hit 3rd, is even ****ing dumber.

ip is over-rated, it only might mean that the Angels have a better bullpen, and Sparky doesn't trust anyone to finish for JV. plus Weaver has missed a couple of starts I believe. so throwing out innings pitched as a stat, is only a number that doesn't help anyone unless you pitch great in all of the innings, and by going by the real stats. Weaver is leading Verlander in Wins and ERA and Verlander is leading in strikeouts.I'll take wins and ERA over any other stupid ass stat you throw out there (except Ks).

IP is huge and missed starts are big too. Verlander is out there every 5th day for his team and he goes an inning more than Weaver on average. This is huge, if Weaver were left out there an extra inning each start, no way he has an ERA as low. Weaver was dominant last night though and is now 10-1 with a sub 2.00 ERA. Verlander still has pitched over 36 more innings though. It's very close right now, we'll see what happens down the stretch with Weaver's history of tiring late in the season.

I don't think you can understate the value of Verlander being able to give his team 240+ innings every year as the Ace. You get very similar stats from Verlander as Weaver only you get about 15-20% more each year.

3rd has been shown to be the least important top of the order position to bat a player. 1st 2nd and 4th are the highest priority positions. You shouldn't bat your best hitter 3rd.

then every Major league manager is a asshole for doing it then right?

Wow...did someone actually suggest using Wins by a pitcher as an important stat?

Not ever big league manager does that.

And even if they did, wouldn't mean it was right.

Or are you really gonna suggest that the way major league teams manage their bullpen is actually the best way to do it?

Yeah, ERA too.

Anybody who thinks ERA is a good stat is never allowed to complain about a scorer ruling an obvious error a hit.

True, but ERA is still somewhat in the pitchers control, it's not a definitive stat, but W/L as a main stat is an absolute joke.
