2008 Lions, where are they Now?

I decided to dig through all of Mayhew's draft picks, here they are. Not all that interesting, some of these guys just fell off the map.

2009

- Matthew Stafford, QB: QB for the Lions, signed an extension in 2013

- Brandon Pettigrew, TE: TE for the Lions, re-signed with the Lions in 2014

- Louis Delmas, DB: FS for the Dolphins since 2014, spent all of 2015 on IR

- DeAndre Levy, LB: LB for the Lions, signed an extension in 2015, missed all of 2015 due to injury

- Derrick Williams, WR: Signed with Toronto (CFL) in 2013, was released 2 months later. Currently in the medical device sales business in Maryland.

- Sammie Lee Hill, DT: NT for the Titans since 2013

- Aaron Brown, RB: Signed with Sacramento (UFL) in 2012 (which folded the same year). Can't find anything on him since.

- Lydon Murtha, T: OT for the Dolphins from 2009-2011. Weighed in on the Martin-Incognito fiasco, can't find anything since.

- Zack Follett, LB: Retired in 2010, currently owns a few coffee shops called Kuppa Joy

- Dan Gronkowski, TE: Last played for the Browns in 2011, recently featured in a Visa commercial with brother Rob

2010

- Ndamukong Suh, DT: DT for the Dolphins since 2015

- Jahvid Best, RB: Retired in 2013. Coaching assistant for the Cal Bears in 2014. Currently training in track for the 2016 summer olympics.

- Amari Spievey, DB: Arrested and charged with third-degree assault in 2013, he was released by the Lions later that year, charges were eventually dropped. Currently a sales manager at Vivint Solar.

- Jason Fox, T: OT for the Dolphins since 2014, just recently waived.

- Willie Young, DE: DE for the Bears since 2014

- Tim Toone, WR: Last played for the Saints prior to the 2013 season. Can't find anything since.

2011

- Nick Fairley, DT: DT for the Rams since 2015

- Titus Young, WR: Signed by the Rams in 2013 but was released after just 10 days. Arrested twice on 5/5/2013 (drunk driving and attempting to steal impounded car), arrested on 5/10/2013 (suspicion of burglary, resisting arrest, and assaulting an officer). Spent time in a psychiatric hospital shortly after. Arrested on 7/9/2014 for five counts of battery. In May 2015 he was sentenced to one year of inpatient treatment at a rehab center and five years probation

- Mikel Leshoure, RB: Last played for the Lions in 2013. Participated in the Veteran Combine this past year. Supposedly still working out/staying in shape for a potential comeback.

- Doug Hogue, LB: Signed with Winnipeg (CFL) in 2014, but was cut during training camp. Can't find anything since.

- Johnny Culbreath, OL: Reportedly signed with the Jacksonville Sharks (AFL) in 2013, but he's not on their current roster, all I could find.

2012

- Riley Reiff, T: OT for the Lions

- Ryan Broyles, WR: Last played for the Lions in 2014, started the Ryan Broyles Foundation in 2013

- Bill Bentley, DB: Released prior to the 2015, re-signed midway through, waived again in December 2015

- Ronnell Lewis, LB: Current LB for the Spokane Empire (IFL)

- Tahir Whitehead, LB: LB for the Lions

- Chris Greenwood, DB: Released in 2013, recently signed to the Patriots practice squard, released in December 2015

- Jonte Green, DB: Training camp cut for the Cardinals this past season, can't find anything since

- Travis Lewis, LB: LB for the Lions

2013-2015

Most of these guys are still on the team, so nothing much to say here. I'll only include one...

- Nate Freese, K: Released in 2014, I don't know much, his twitter is filled with a bunch of fantasy football talk

Still in the NFL Vs. Total Draft Picks

2009 1st overall, two 1st round picks

5/10

2010 2nd overall, two first round picks

3/6

2011 13th overall, two second round picks

1/5

2012 21st overall

3/8

Total

12/29

From 2009-2012 ~60 percent of the players Mayhew picked are no longer playing football in the pros. Delmas and Fox are hanging by a thread. That number rises to ~80 percent when you take away first round picks. Only 20 percent of players from 2009-2012 drafts are still with the Lions, and that includes FA Whitehead and potential cut Pettigrew. Only 5 current starters: Stafford, Pettigrew, Levy, Reiff, and Whitehead were drafted in those 4 years. He drafted Ebron.

People still think Mayhew did a good job.

Man, that list of Mayhew picks is a trip down shitty memory lane. Outside of being in the league or not, we have to have the fewest snap count for draft picks of any team during that period. Several of those guys just never saw the field for us... Fox, Toone, Hogue, Broyles, etc.

I forgot all about Sammie Lee Hill. I actually liked him and hoped we could have held onto him. He's obviously still in the league according to your list. Any idea if he's actually any good?

Started 15 games in 2014, but suffered an MCL injury this past season and barely played. Sounds like the Titans might move on.

Great list Grandy you pulled that off fast.

Mathews first draft was actually pretty good. 2010 was decent too (for the most part), it's the last 5 drafts that really stink.

And ya nice work Grandy, that was quick . Thanks!
