Unfortunately MSU will not have a large dropoff in play I don't think. Why? Because we are now at a place where the talented guys who would have gone to UM but went to MSU because of DickRod are on the roster ready to step in.

It used to be that way at UM and will be again under Hoke. I think MSU will be solid for a few years until the ripple effect of DickRod finally returns to the natural order of things with UM having the talented guys rolling through on a yearly basis and MSU feeding on the scraps.

He's referring to the perception that MSU got the lion's share of the recruits from the state of Michigan. It has little to do with how good Michigan's recruits were (since they can come from anywhere.)

that's always been the case, though.

Michigan isn't as big of a football state as ohio, penn, or florida, and even under RR we were still bringing in Michigan talent.

Gholston probably wasn't coming here regardless, since he's a thug, and his brother played for ohio. some families are just rotten.
