2014 Cap

Two drafts until 2016 kicks off. Figure 4-6 starters or more from two drafts.....and rookie deals are very cap friendly now.....and it's really not that bad.
.

really reaching for the sky there booger....4-6 starters...from mayhew drafts???!!!

calvin is going to be the issue in 2 years. Same deal we have with suh now...

I actually like the lower cap. 120m to me is perfect. More cap just means more money to players already making a ton of money. Or more dead money down the road when you realize the mid level guys you signed really suck.

I don't mind the players making their fair share of the revenue.

Lions have plenty of space. 120 commitments with 37 under contract. 5 million for 7 draft picks. Resign cheap but good players like mathis and Mosley. Swanson and van noy step up. Save plenty with bush jones and tulloch if needed. Restructure calvin or stafford worst case. We have suh money. Just need some smart vet signings and a draft really. This team is set

6.4 total (3.2 each) savings with bush and tulloch cut. Riddick bell van noy and whitehead allow that. 3.1 savings to cut jones. May not be necessary

I could care less how much they make but it's not like the team is rolling cap space friendly these days. 160m won't change that..

as far as the Lions....you are right. They are not in good shape compared to most teams.

walter mock currently has us taking Melvin Gordon III with the 20th pick.

Holy balls I would both love and hate that pick. If it were followed by 2 offensive linemen in the 2nd and 3rd.....it would make more sense.

Detroit needs to look at what Minnesota has done this year and see RB's just aren't that important anymore.

I'd be much happier with a low round trade for Knile Davis or Christine Michael.

Michael could be had I think. All depends what's going on with Lynch though. He's most likely gone in Seattle. And the Chiefs would be crazy to let go of Davis. He does everything on that team and Charles is getting some wear and tear on him.

Love them both though. :)

booger, tony.. completely feel ya lol. It goes against everything I ever said about mayhew. Ive ragged on him for high round rb picks atleast 50 times every year for the last 5 years lol. But my god I love how that kid runs. Agree with the oline part though....we need help there first and foremost. Dare I say a deep draft for rbs....mg3, gurley, Abdullah, yeldon, Indianas RB. If I had a choice between a offensive weapon at pick 20...give me the thug...dorial green bekham and throw it 600 times a year :D

Don't see a 1st round RB in the cards, but thats me.

Suh, Fairley, and Mosely all free agents at the end of the year? Of the three, Mosley is the one most likely to return, and he's a bit long in the tooth now.

Unless we manage to nail down a free agent like B.J. Raji, I see them going after a guy like Eddie Goldman from Florida State, or maybe a kid like Danny Sheldon from Washington.

Time to get a big NT, and begin the installation of the 3-4 defense.

They restructured Bush this year right before the start of the season. They moved around 1.5 million into future years. Cap savings cutting him would only be around 1.7 million next year.

The cap savings is 3.2 with the restructure per this. But this didn't take into account restructure in the dead money even though it lists the restructure. So you are correct. Either way Tulloch and Jones is enough. 1.6 I keep Bush around. We don't need to cut all these guys anyway. 120 committed with 37 under contract plus 7 draft picks coming.

I would love to see 2-3 oline picked up this year either through FA or the draft. Swanson may be our center of the future, but we need a mauler at lg and maybe a rt that can stay healthy.

I am more than happy going into next year with Bell and Riddick in the back field and maybe pick up another late round back.

Bush cant stay healthy, so cut him and save some cap room.

2-3 OLINE only if they're the first 2-3 rounds. Picking an OL in say round 5 is just a project. I'd go OL, round 1. DT, round 2. OL, round 3. Other teams run the ball well it would be nice if we could.
