2017 Playoffs - Astros electronic sign stealing - Now Astros fire Luhnow and Hinch

Great call, Bob.

JV said the same thing in the Houston bullpen....."let [Charlie] ride, he's pitching great."

He was just dealing . Sometimes you just got to leave guys in. After hearing his story ( Morton) with the injuries and seeing Beltran tear up after 20 years trying to win a title. Plus jv's ws struggles. Plus the Astro's never winning one. I am glad the astro's won.

"How about trading for Verlander, even though their metrics didn?t at all favor sacrificing three promising prospects for a 34-year-old with a contract guaranteeing him $28 million a year?"

Erm...that's not "exactly" true, b/c it suddenly made me remember that WE (yeah...including us the Tigers' fans) are still paying almost a third of JV's remaining 2 years on his contract...so even if the emotional part of rooting for him is mostly over, since he now has his WS ring and a much clearer path to the HoF...the financial part still remains...fucking crappy Tigers FO...loolz.

I rooted hard for Verlander to win his first WS ring, but after this offseason, he is "justin" opposing SP, who I want to lose vs the Tigers when/if he pitches agaist them next season. But given the mostly AAAA lineup(s) that he could face, he might K 15-20 instead. I never rooted as hard for Jack Morris, post(season) Tigers, b/c 1) he won a ring as a Tiger, and 2) he left via FA, not by last-seconds deadline trade.

iirc, Morris and a few other players were not signed and it was proven that all MLB teams were in collusion against those players.

The new-look free agency part of the remedies could also set a precedent for subsequent grievances and free agents, including Tim Raines, Andre Dawson and Jack Morris from the 1986 group.

That's what I am saying . They are heavy into anylitics but also have old school thinking also. It's like do you trade for Verlander or Darvish . I think by the numbers Wasn't Darvish pitching better then Jv at the trade deadline happen? I mean who would you rather have ? Give jv a great defense and some offense and man did he produce.Plus I looked at all 3 prospect we got from Houston. It's not like they gave us the best prospects they have. More about shedding jv's money .

Tom Monaghan was the worst of the Tigers' two pizza-baron owners, and now the third in scion Chris Ilitch ain't looking too hot himself, either.

I was definitely thinking to myself last night "since the Tigers were gpnna deal Verlander anyway, and he wanted to go anyway, the Dodgers could've gotten him instead of Darvish..."

Maybe I already posted now that I'm thinking of it...

Glad they didn't. Houston was much easier to root for from my perspective.

Yeah....plus Houston had that post natural disaster cachet that LA lacked.
Maybe if SoCal had a 7.5 temblor or higher, then the sympathy factor would have kicked in.

And...$229 million: The Dodgers had the highest payroll in baseball for the fifth straight year, per Spotrac. The Astros ranked No. 17 at $137 million.

I can say I didn't root for the Astros because of a disaster. If it hadn't happened I probably would have hoped for LA. That's messed up in its own right as I hate them.

HOUSTON, WE?VE GOT (MORE) PROBLEMS.
Totally Tigers

Damn, lots to digest here.

Ha! That was great she is a good writer

Speaking of former Tigers ? and there?s a lot of them these days ? rest assured that the Detroit organization would never participate in a cheating scandal like this. First of all, they don?t have the technology to do it and Chris Ilitch wouldn?t spring for the extra cameras and tv monitors. He might, however, sign off on purchasing a garbage can.

Not one that his players could beat on, though. He would not get his money?s worth out of it.
