According to @StatsBySTATS, Joe Jimenez is 9th Tigers reliever to earn All-Star bid. He?s also the first Tiger to make an All-Star team at age-23 or younger since Travis Fryman in 1992 and the first Tigers pitcher that young to do so since Mark Fidrych in 1977.

I believe it's rare for a setup man getting selected.

It is rare. The ONLY reason he got selected is that the Tigers didn't have anybody else even remotely worthy.
