They were a 98 loss team with Upton, JD, Avila, Wilson and Justin playing 2/3 of the year. They lost Kinsler. Total, 10 different players since last opening day. They did not improve over last year in any manner except lowering payroll. It will be years until they won't lose 100 games. And certainly not with Big Al in charge and Gardenhire as manager.

Vegas has the line at 68 1/2 wins. Should be a lock for the under then.

It is a bit less stressful having zero expectations though isn’t it

Exactly right.. we win 85 games and we bitch. Get to the playoffs and lose, and we bitch. Less expectations mean you can hopefully get your inner child and start enjoying baseball again.

I really enjoyed watching the Wings this season.. It can be fun starting a new and see how this team can improve the next few years. We need a new a new GM, badly .. but I'm looking forward to this season.

Losing stinks. I doubt I will watch one game from the 1st to the 9th inning this year knowing the team has no shot at the playoffs. This all could have been avoided if DD had been a better Gm. Who watches the shity wings. They were ok to watch up till the 62 point mark but since then they are really no fun to watch .. Sports just stinks when your home team is terrible. Pistons, Wings and soon to be Tigers are just throwing out terrible products right now. No wonder it is still not a sell out. Don't get me started on the Ford's. Hopefully Matt can break the Layne Hex!!!

There are basically 5 players that made the 25-man roster who are worthy of my attention this year. Cabrera, Fulmer, Candelaria, Goodrum and Jimenez. Based on recent history...Cabrera, Candelaria and Goodrum are the only Tigers that are a lock to finish the year above average for OBP. The Bull Pen is the worst it has been since 2003. The starters all have huge question marks except for Fulmer. I still cannot figure out the need for both Jones and Reyes.

The sooner the likes of Jake Rogers or Christin Stewart are promoted to the big league club, the sooner my believe they will start turning things around.

isn't Goodrum just a bench player?

It?s more fun to watch, at least for me. I really got into the Tigers and baseball in general after the 119 loss season, the situation now feels similar. For some reason I like watching the bad teams with a sprinkling of hope, rebounding from rock bottom (though the Tigers might not even be there yet). My interest actually waned when the Tigers started making the playoffs regularly. The state of the team might not be good but it brings back good memories for me, watching players like Mike Maroth and Carlos Guillen at my Grandpa?s house.

I'm still pretty salty that the 2006-2017 Tigers never won a World series, and blame DD for both the success and failures of this franchise. He could have done it a tad differently and this bad stretch we are about to have would not be as terrible as it is going to be.

I have a feeling we are going to like Gardenhire much more than Brad though.

The expectations of years past are gone. In fact, the only expectation of this Tigers team is that they will lose gloriously, victimized nightly by their lack of pitching depth, experience and overall talent level.

Gardenhire used some of those expectations as fuel. On the day of the first full-squad workouts, players arrived at their locker to find a piece of paper with a newspaper headline on it. “The Tigers Will Stink In 2018,” it read.

I put most of the blame on Mr. I for how bad the next 3-5 years are going to be

No. On this team he should be the starting 2B and/or SS. I would certainly play him over Machado and even Iglesias. I would give him a shot before Dawel Lugo. Keep in mind, Machado is the exact same age as Goodrum.

Interesting. I never heard of him until today. Maybe they can dump Iggy sometime before the trade deadline. I don't even know why they signed Iggy unless they plan to trade him.

Mr. I wanted to get a WS - hard to blame him there. It's similar to the Wings - you have a stretch of success always buying, losing 1st round picks - any decent youth to get better .. It was easy to see this happening eventually.

If I had to absolutely blame someone it would be Dombrowski .. even the limitations of what the Tigers had he could not draft. At all.

So I will reiterate I'm going to enjoy this season and the ones to follow to get back on top. That's the fun part.
