RAPID FIRE.

This week in baseball was all about the non-tender deadline. A deadline that had most of the media and analysts predicting that a new record would be set.
But it wasn?t. Despite the news of almost every team slashing their off-the-field payrolls, some to an alarming extent, 2020 offered an almost identical number of non-tenders as 2019 did.
Kurt and Holly have been given 5 questions about this week?s big event and only 2 sentences for each in which to answer. As always, neither blogger has seen each other?s answers until publication.

1. Were you surprised that, despite the universal forecasts of a larger number of non-tenders, the overall quantity of players not receiving an offer stayed essentially the same as last year?

2. Were you surprised that the Tigers made offers to all 9 of their players?

3. Which player, if any, surprised you the most by being tendered?

4. Why do you think the Tigers tendered him?

5. What do you deduce from all 9 of the Tigers being tendered?

The Saturday Survey offers readers the opportunity to weigh in on a relevant topic. So here is a poll to gauge the pulse of our passionate readers.
Today, we center the discussion on the Tiger players who were eligible to be non-tendered and where the team?s decisions concluded.
As always, we welcome your comments, so please vote and then submit your reasons (4 sentences max!) for how you voted in the usual comment box. Don?t forget to come back later and view the results!

Despite analysts? consensus that MLB teams would break the record for non-tenders, the same number as last year were not offered contracts.

The Tigers had 9 players eligible this week to be non-tendered that included Matthew Boyd, Jeimer Candelario, Jose Cisnero, Buck Farmer, Michael Fulmer, Niko Goodrum, Joe Jimenez, JaCoby Jones and Daniel Norris. All of them received contract offers.

How do you feel about the Tigers tendering contracts to all nine players?
1. Solid move.

2. Surprised.

3. Shocked.

4. Expected 1 non-tender.

5. Expected multiple non-tenders.

6. Not sure.
