2022 Off-Season

You draft a QB at #2 this year and still have a late 1st and 2nd, along w (2) 1st next year. If we pass on a QB, good chance we?ll have to mortgage future picks to move up next year(assuming we improve). Let the rookie gain experience next seasons w a good TE, RB and OLine, while keeping the draft capital and creating future cap space to build.

I have no problem building the team with this draft and bundling picks next draft to get their QB of the future. Remember Goff's deal has 4 more years. We all have assumed the buyout after 2 seasons but if Goff becomes consistently serviceable, I see no reason to move on from him before we have our guy through the draft.

I would select a backup qb I the later rounds of this year's draft. Maybe you find a gem or at worst a Tim Boyle like back up.

IMO, the first 3 picks needs to address Edge rusher first then S and WR with picks 1b and 2. Ideally for me would be 1a - Hutchinson- Edge, 1b - Jameson Williams or Drake London- WR, 2 Jaquan Brisker or Jordan Battle- S.

After that try to find LB, O-line and more WR and secondary help the rest of the draft. But the Lions have yet to ever listen to me and we have one 1 playoff game in my lifetime. Coincidence??? I don't think so.

People also need to ask themselves, would you rather have a Jeff Okudoh or a Justin Herbert? It?s not a hard answer. I think we can all agree Goff isn?t the solution. We have the #2 pick, it?s time to get the QB of the future.

Justin Herbert was actually considered a top qb prospect that year. So if there?s a Herbert in this class then fine.

Pickett and Herbert are similar IMO

I actually think that Howell is more similar to Herbert. Not completely in their play styles, but super productive college players who were nitpicked predraft. Sam plays on a god awful jets esque team this year and had carried the team on his back. He also has similar stats to Trevor Lawrence?s at Clemson in the same conference. But because his entire team left in the draft last year along with his defense and offensive line being god awful, he is now projected to fall later. A team like Pittsburgh or New Orleans is hoping that he falls to them. He?s the next Drew Brees. Has the NCAA record for a true freshman in TD passes. Three years of high level production.

Corral carted off in bowl game. That could be big

There are a lot of embarrassing franchises in the NFL right now. New York Giants head coach Joe Judge went on an 11-minute diatribe admonishing everyone who is losing faith in his team (the Giants are 4-12 this season and have scored fewer touchdowns than any other team this year). According to a report, Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper is ?unhappy and embarrassed? about the contract he gave head coach Matt Rhule almost two years ago, as Rhule has already fired his offensive coordinator and is currently cycling through a three-headed quarterback carousel.

The Jacksonville Jaguars finally fired Urban Meyer in December, but their fans are currently plotting to attend the season finale wearing clown costumes in an ongoing grassroots protest following the announcement that GM Trent Baalke would be retained into next season.

You know who isn?t on that list? The Detroit Lions.

Like the Jaquars fans....there are several front office personnel that are clowns dressed up as front office people. Just because some teams have more clowns than us...doesnt mean our team isnt a bunch of clowns. Were just hiding behind the other clowns right now.

The bright side:
If Aaron Rodgers leaves Green Bay
If CHI and MIN both fire their coaches
then, literally ANYTHING could happen next year. Worst to first could be a real possibility if we infuse this team with talent. If we do have some talent we will need to hope DC stops with his clown show game day mistakes and decisions and tries to look like a real football team.

I might be on board with Pickett. I just don?t like that he?s a one year wonder. I just can?t help but see Mitch Trubisky in him.

Joe Burrow was a recent one hit wonder. They actually have very similar college arches.

I?d take a 4th round flyer on Bailey Zappe. That guy can make quick reads and is accurate. You put him in the right offense and I think, in time, he would make a good NFL QB.

i just think holmes is in the camp of Goff being his guy. If a QB is drafted its to be a back up with potential to groom. Maybe the top of rd 3 at the earliest.

Hes saw plenty of Tim Boyle at this point. The decision will be to replace him...not Goff. Who knows..maybe he really likes Tim Boyle.

Worth mentioning 2023 is the year of the QB. Will be a SUPER good class headlined by Bryce an Stroud. You can bet any good GM with a qb need is planning ahead. Holmes may not waste a pick on QB this year because of it. Give goof 1 more chance and if our team isnt any good youre picking a top 10 QB in 2023.

Bears and Vikings both fire everyone and will be looking for new HC?s next year

Lions should make it a priority NOT to lose Glenn, Glenn did a fantastic job with the corners and the Lions can't afford to lose him. The secondary will regress if they lose Glenn
