The NFL Draft is still over a month away, but it's certainly on everyone's mind with the Scouting Combine happening right now. It's been interesting that Caleb Williams has opted to not participate in just about everything, and he's been getting a little bit of criticism because of it. I'd say it makes sense though. If he's guaranteed to be #1 overall, why give anyone a reason for that to change?

Anyway, this is a great QB class. Really wish the Steelers would go ahead and dump Kenny and grab one of these guys.

Welp, five QBs were drafted in the first ten picks. Unsurprisingly, Williams, Daniels, and Maye were the first three picks. Pennix was a shocker at #8 though. Not sure what Atlanta is doing there.

Man, not much chatting.

Especially since the Draft is in Detroit.

Steelers go OT in the first round. Don’t love it. Was hoping for another CB to go alongside JPJ.

PFF on the Arnold pick

Pick Grade:Very Good
Detroit trades up to acquire the 14th-ranked player on PFF big boardin Alabama cornerback Terrion Arnold, who is a alpha presence in the secondary who plays with a fearless mentality. He led all SEC cornerbacks in interceptions and pass breakups in 2023. He also led the conference with a 90.6 PFF run-defense grade. Detroit has officially overhauled their cornerback room with the additions of Arnold, Carlton Davis and Amik Robertson.

Trade summary:

Lions get
2024 1st-round pick (No. 24)
2025 7th-round pick

Cowboys get
2024 1st-round pick (No. 29)
2024 3rd-round pick

He’s arguably the best corner in the draft. The Toledo corner was taken before, but I’d rather take the proven commodity from a big school. Awesome move by Detroit.

Atlanta is clearly trying to put themselves up there with Carolina as the worst run organizations... Kirk is pissed about Penix, and he should be.

It would make sense if Kirk was like 38, and they were only expecting like two seasons from him. That would make sense. But he’s 35 and they signed him to a five year deal.

Then you take into mind that Penix isn’t a spring chicken. He’s a college super senior, taking advantage of that COVID year. He’s 24 right now. He could be 29 by the time Kirk is out of the picture, and by that point, they’re having to give Penix a big contract, if they actually believe he ends up being the guy.

I would think they’re planning on trading Kirk after a season or two though.

They can opt out with Cousins after two years. Sitting isn't the worse.. Favre did it, Aaron Rodgers did it. Steve Young was 30 when he got a chance with SF. The problem, he's not that good imo.

That’s true, so maybe they opt out and end up making the Penix the starter then. Could make sense, since they’ll be worrying about paying all these young guys they’ve got as well very soon, assuming one of them produces now.

Plus Cousins coming off a major injury..

Steelers ended up grabbing Troy Fautanu, Zach Frazier, Roman Wilson, Payton Wilson, Mason McCormick, Logan Lee, etc. We went offensive line heavy, which makes sense since we cut the majority of the OL this offseason.

Crap article, got the 'Boys as a C.
The NFL teams follow and react to everything PFF has in analytics and how they can analyze teams strengths and weaknesses, but PFF stinks because they gave your team a C.
That's all I need to know.
