Get StartedThis is the projection I have read on a couple sites that he would get. So would you sign him to that? Is he worth it? I have a hard time saying yes to both
That's a lot of money. First is easy, no. Second is objective. I ask who the highest currently paid DT would be and compare the difference in talent and money.
Why don't they put caps on the amount players can receive to prevent shit like this from happening. They could make a rule saying "a player of position (x) is only allowed to take up (x) percent of the overall team cap. This contract inflation is ridiculous. We're gonna hear some "richest DT deal in history" crap with suh, only for another team to make their DT the highest paid in history next year.
CBA
I don't mind the players getting what they can get. The NFL is entertainment and entertainers get paid a lot of money.
I agree, but individual player contracts that cripple a team's salary cap can't be all that great either.

Suh is worth 12-13 million a year. He's a very good player. And the Lions can make it work. They've been making it work by still signing free agents all these years (2010,2011,2013 very active in free agency and 2012 got back who they wanted in Backus, Avril on a large number, Tulloch long term, Hill and Levy restricted) when Suh was making 12 million a year, Stafford was a on a huge deal and Calvin was on a huge deal and been on his new deal for 2 years already. Signing Suh does not mean the Lions can't get good players in the draft and free agency.
They have been making it work? Every season you mentioned was a losing season except for 2011 when they got their asses kicked in the first round. It's about building a team from top to bottom....not just the top. Every week the Lions lose you give excuses about injuries, lack of depth at WR, etc. A complete team can overcome that stuff. It's almost impossible for a team that is built like the Lions to overcome that stuff.
