So, since we don't have many sparty fans over here, i dropped by the red cedar board to check out what they were saying. Sounds like a lot of whining to me. One person had a genius post about RVB's comments on Cousins' comments about us watching on tv and still getting in. Basically the poster said his comments were arrogant. WTF???

http://michiganstate.247sports.com/Board/93/Scummer-Van-Bergens-arrogant-comments-6010962/2

Then, I found this gem about how vatech and michigan were undeserving and the worst bcs matchup ever.

http://michiganstate.247sports.com/Board/93/Sugar-Bowl-Proof-of-worst-BCS-matchup-EVER-6014282/1

excuse me? Nebraska thumped them, so his excuse to our win over them was that Nebraska was an inconsistent team.

Yeah, okay, whatever makes ya feel better, buddy. hey at least he said we were better than 2007 hawaii or last year's uconn team!

Sorry, had to post here, because it seems they make you pay to post.

i'd like to add that on the first link...i like the responses. much more class from spartys fanbase than i thought there would be.

Same. Most people didn't have a problem with what RVB said, which was pretty surprising.

he didn't say anything wrong. i don't see the problem in what RVB said. All he said is that if cousins had wanted to stay home so we could play for the big 10 title, he'd take the chance. then he wished them luck.

I see it like this...

say GB goes 10-6 (i know) and beats detroit twice, but detroit does better in the rest of it's games and ends up with 11 wins and gets in the playoffs and GB does not. It doesn't matter one god damn bit that GB won twice because they choked in the other games.

Plain and simple, sparty had the easy way in and we had to agonize over getting in. Sparty blew it and we benefited.

Oh I agree, I'm just surprised more of them aren't whining about it.

i know...just want to throw an anti-packers analogy there. lol

Sparty's got a beef, but it's not with Michigan.

Their beef is *always* Michigan.

That said, they did get sort of screwed, although the CapOne Bowl is probably jumping for joy it is getting Nebraska and its throng of Bugeater fans - - they "Travel well"

Sparty needs to look in the mirror too. They have a terrible Bowl trackrecord, aren't said to "travel well" necessarily, and aren't a big draw for TV ratings, on their own.

Aside from the "Title Game" they're all exhibitions anyways. Plus, VaTech sure as hell doesn't deserve a BCS Bowl after that whipping by Clemson. At least Sparty can say they beat Wisky once and both games were close.

After not getting the Rose Bowl, one wonders why it matters to Sparty where their next game is. Differentiating between the Sugar and Outback bowl these days seems unnecessary.

I don't agree that we had the easy way in. We had to play the best team in the B1G to get into the BCS, thats not what I consider easy. I don't have a problem with the higher ranked team going to a better bowl. UM deserved it. I have a problem with teams like WVU getting a bid and a team like BSU or MSU gets shafted. We were penalized for losing the B1G championship. We won the division, played the best team in the B1G, twice, and beat the team that finished behind us in the division who gets to go to a BCS game. I don't consider that whining, heck, how many UM fans wouldn't be a little tiffed if they were in the same situation. UM deserves to be there and so does some other teams. Having WVU there is a joke, along with 2 teams from the weak ass ACC. The BCS is flawed, plain and simple.

Some might say BCS affects recruiting, but I think not as it applies to the BIG. No a deal-breaker with a multi-star HS prospect.

It's going to be tough for Dantonio to get this team up for the bowl. They have to feel crushed. Georgia is a good team BUT, I cn honestly say for the first time in YEARS that we have a shot to win this bowl game. If you look back on our previous bowls they have been terrible match ups. The Champs Bowl against a Matt Ryan led top 15 BC team, Cap Bowl against a Matthew Staffod led top 15 Georgia team and last year against Bama who was WAY underrated, and a team once ranked #1. I like the match up, hopefully the guys show up.

In 2005 the Outback Bowl invited Iowa, a team Michigan had beaten and a team that finished behind Michigan in the then, singular division BigTen.

It happens all the time. Hopefully for Sparty fans, the team doesn't respond the way Michigan did heading into that Alamo Bowl vs Nebraska.

i'd be fine with it. Hell, you guys take vatech and the sugar and let's play Wisky next week! You think any of us are happy that we had to rely on help to get in? I'm glad we're there, but I don't think it's something we can brag about. We still need to win and beat you guys next year or all of the things Hoke has accomplished this year means nothing.

And I wish we had played Wisky this year. I love playing that team, it's become a secondary rivalry to me. I know a lot of your fans have complained about our "luck" with our schedule. Last year you guys had 8 home games and skipped Ohio and had us, ND, and Wisky at home. That's part of my complaint. It's hypocritical whining.

Agreed, we had an easy schedule last year. This years was tougher and somehow we still managed to have a great year. UM will get their chance next year to prove how good they are with that brutal schedule. Fortunately for you guys, Hoke has you in the right direction. In regards to the VaTech game, I think you guys win quite convincingly. The ACC looks real weak too me and if you look at VaTech, the collapse in every big game. Should be a big win for the conference.

Two bcs games for the big 10 is great.

The key games that we need to win are us over vatech, wisky over oregon, you guys over Georgia, and Nebraska over South Carolina.

Iowa over Oklahoma would also be a nice win, but with Oklahoma down, I don't think it'd do much for us.

All are winnable and would be big boosts to our conference standing. Only big 10 team i'm rooting against is Ohio. Fuck them.
