AL Central Watch

I wouldn't worry too much now, the Tigers lose the first game of every series.

I know... What is really maddening is everyone is so happy with this 6-3 stretch and it could have been a 9-0 or 8-1 stretch with just a few tiny breaks and some better juggling.... We need to win on Tuesday because it has been a million years since the tigers have won 3 games in a row..

Looking into Leyland's numbers a little bit today (does not include playoffs and only includes his time with the Tigers)

Record with the Tigers
7 seasons
551-488 (.530)

Interleague play: 78-42 (.650)
vs AL teams: 473-446 (.515)
vs AL Central teams: 247-213 (.537)
vs AL non-Central teams: 226-233 (.492)

Then if you considered AL vs NL record in general would .650 stand out that much more than anyone else? Seems right around .500 or just above (ave) would be the track record. Nothing overly impressive but I do wonder what it might be if not for all out managed himself moves over the years. But don't get me wrong I have no doubt it could be worse.

JL = "Good but not great" IMO

Nothing much to report yet, everyone else is either tied or close.

Cincy just scored, both the Sox and Indians losing 2-1

Such bullshit...if Chicago loses, Cleveland moves into 1st.

Sox lose to the shitty Cubs and waste Peavy's complete game. Tigers are 2 back of 1st place Cleveland.

Chicago now has the worst June record among AL teams at 6-11

Well...Detroit was the only central team that didn't win tonight.

Yeah back to 3 games back with this piss=poor offensive effort tonight..

Top performers in the central so far this month

Offense: Trevor Plouffe (Twins) - 17 Games, 73 PA, 9 HR, 17 RBI, .385 BA, .452 OBP, .877 SLG, 1.329 OPS, .535 wOBA, 249 wRC+, 1.6 WAR (Most of these are tops in the AL for June)

Pitching: Justin Masterson (Indians) - 4 GS (2-2), 29 IP, 1.24 ERA, 27 K, 0.86 WHIP, 4.5 K/BB, .184 Opp BA, 3.11 xFIP, 1.0 WAR

(Arguably) Worst Performers

Offense: Orlando Hudson (White Sox) - 16 Games, 56 PA, 1 HR, 6 RBI, .157 BA, .218 OBP, .275 SLG, .493 OPS, .202 wOBA, 16 wRC+, -0.5 WAR

AL Central vs NL Central again this weekend

The AL Central is 33-27 against the NL Central so far, and 39-36 against all of the NL.

Then we're back to AL play, Chicago and Minnesota kick off the AL Central match-ups starting Monday.
