It may mean nothing if his replacement plays well.....but there is a reason that Jeter is the starter and lead off batter....the buy behind him isn't as good.

No. But Jeter, I'm not afraid of him in the NYY lineup. Other guys, especially the LH power but a single or two by Jeter doesn't worry me.

Jeter makes that offense run like Ajax does ours.

Don't underestimate what losing him means, a .300 hitter, who has historically been clutch in the postseason, and a base stealing threat.

We all have different opinions. They can sustain losing Jeter, we can't sustain losing AJ. And its not about the replacement but they have guys that can just hit home runs whenever to make up for that. We don't.

No they aren't. Do you have confident Avila or Peralta will hit a home run? Their guys do it all the time. He's not Mr. Clutch. He made a play against the A's one year, if the goof slid he scores and Jeter is just another guy.

After 2 games I believe Jhonny is definitely in line hitting .556 (5 for 9) and making 3 excellent defensive plays so far. As Leyland said in his interview tonight this is the best he has seen Jhonny play all season long.
