Tigers' Jim Leyland announces ALCS rotation, then changes it later in day.
from Mlive

The Tigers starters for the ALCS will now go in this order:: Verlander starts games 1 and 5, Scherzer goes in games 2 and 6, Fister has games 3 and 7, Porcello gets just 1 start, game 4.

^^ this. If Leyland allows it, this should be the rotation from here on out. Thats why he makes the big bucks....get JV in the game as much as possible. Scherzer should be fin to go game 2. He would have thrown yesterday anyways....just maybe not 98/99 like he was throwing lol. Save Ricky for extended relief situations only.

You know JL won't want JV going 3 times. Maybe Ricky's due :)

If they are fortunate to get to the WS, then having JV pitch 3 times I think JL might do it. Nothing left to save at that point.

Max has so much better numbers verses Texas then Rick does... I know Rick's numbers are small sample sizes In 2 starts rick is 1-1 with a 6.30 era and a 1.90 whip..BAA a whopping .372..

But in 6 starts verses Texas Max is 3-0 with 37 Ip and a 3.41 era 1.27 whip and .261 batting average against which is goo verses Texas.. Too bad Max cannot start Sunday..

I just heard on the ESPN Radio (1:15 Am) that Max will pitch game 2 and not Rick...

Looking at the stats, the Rangers crush finesse pitchers (.837 OPS) and struggle against power pitchers (.738 OPS).

I really feel that JV will shut their lineup down and give us 2 wins in the series. Max should be able to get us one as well. That leaves the start from Porcello and two potential Fister starts where we need to get a win.

The Rangers do hit FB pitchers pretty well and struggle against GB pitchers (.757 OPS) so Fister is a quality matchup as well.

Chance for rain tonight and tomorrow. 40% tonight and 50% tomorrow. Go figure, it hasn't rained in Texas all summer until this weekend. lol

I remember back, probably early 80's, the Tigers had a game in Texas. It rained but not very long but when it started I think the grounds crew weren't sure what to do. I mean how often do you get rain in Texas in August. So it took awhile before the tarp was place on the field. Once it stopped, 20 minutes later, the game was cancelled because 3B area was drenched. It had so much water in that area and couldn't get rid of it.

Mitch[/color]]JV is a FB pitcher, just sayin'

He's also a power pitcher.

And with pitchers of JVs caliber, those numbers don't really mean anything.

He got beat yesterday

Do you have a point?

Because those numbers still don't mean much for a pitcher of JV's caliber.

Latest as of 2:30 Sunday;

Looks like the Tigers are going to stick with their original rotation for the ALCS: Porcello (22 pitches) in G4; JV (82 pitches) in G5
Tigers will stay on rotation, with Porcello in Game 4, Verlander in Game 5. But rain threatens Game 2
If you're down 3-0, you need to win 4 straight. Verlander can only win one of them.
Leyland will not pitch Verlander on short rest, so no Game 7.

If our offense doesn't get going it won't matter much anyways.
