the first vote counts got released today, Fielder is in 1st at 1st and Cabrera is in a tight race right behind Beltre at 3rd.

I'm not voting for any of them, none of them deserve it.

I hate to get negative nelly....but I kinda agree.

I usually vote for who I think deserves it, Tiger or not.

And this year only Ajax and Miggy even deserve mention.

I used to vote just for the best but when other teams get guys in because they have a bigger state, I vote purely Tigers.

I used to then I realized how can I bitch about NYY fans when I'm doing the same thing.

That was like 10 years ago.

Agree, nothing to do with being negative, Ajax before he got hurt worth consideration yes. Miggy still probably worth consideration I might still vote for him at 3rd. Thought for sure JV would end up the starter before those last few starts, now I'm not so sure, guessing he won't be.

Well we don't get to vote for pitchers.

AJ gets in anyway if he comes back soon, assume he doesn't go into the tank.

I have never voted for an all star. If I were to vote I would only vote for the Tigers that I thought deserved it.....I wouldn't vote for anybody else.

To me, this is what sucks about the fan voting, it is a popularity contest, and if a team has an enormous fan base, boston, newyork, texas, maybe a few others, they mostly vote for their players, even when statistically behind players on other teams.
So f'k the system, and if you can't beat it, then join them, stuff the ballot box of Tigers that are deserving, maybe deserving, or even least deserving,
wtf do you think these self entitled, better than any other teams, arrogant fuk, holier than thou ff fans of the other teams are doing. Play along with the game and don't think any less of yourselves or for doing it.

All-Star voting: 1B, Fielder (1) 1,027,070; Teixeira (2) 697,602; Konerko (3) 671,430 ... Pujols (5), 478,020

All-Star voting: 3B, Beltre (1) 1,179,864; Cabrera (2) 886,365; Longoria (3) 789,434; A-Rod (4) 657,315

Only other Tigers player who ranks among top players in #MLB All-Star voting so far: AJax, who is 11th among OF with 389,664

Fuck you beltre and texas rangers, and your bozo the clown bald spot hair weave coke head manager.

God I feel better after that rant.

Miggy should be leading the 3B but Konerko should be leading 1B....so it balances out.

Looks like the AL all star team will just be called the Texas Rangers. Texas fans have taken over NY and Boston fans. That is one very large state though, just surprised this hasn't happened any other year.

I think that it's time to do away with the ASG. The best players don't show up and the fact that it determines the HFA for the WS is BS. The whole thing is FUBAR.

Fielder, Cabrera, and Verlander will go. No-one else even deserves to be on a major league roster.

AJ. If he gets back in the next few days and hits as well, he'll get on the team somehow. He's having a hell of a year.

I voted for Miggy and AJax, but that was it from the Tigers. Konerko got my 1B vote over Fielder.

When Brandon Inge made the ASG (09), that helped ensure it lost all credibility.

09 is also the year, Teixeira (starter), Morneau, C. Pena and Youkilis all made the team at 1B over Cabrera.

Pre-ASG Splits

Cabrera .321 BAVG 18 HR 50 RBI .926 OPS

Teixeira .275 BAVG 21 HR 63 RBI .913 OPS

Morneau .311 BAVG 21 HR 70 RBI .965 OPS

C. Pena .228 BAVG 24 HR 58 RBI .891 OPS

Youkilis .298 BAVG 16 HR 53 RBI .985 OPS

I would say that C. Pena had no business being on the team before Cabrera.

Now, in the day, the only way to vote was to attend a game. If a team like NYY drew 3 Mil fans a year, where the MIL drew only 800k, then we are talking a huge difference in votes just from fan attendance.

Technology, internet and text, has made it widely available to vote. The issue here is the system can still be "fooled".

BLUF....it is what it is. I normally vote for Tigers that are at least average for their positions. I might vote for a Avila or Peralta, but I wouldn't for Inge, Raburn, D. Young, etc, etc. Additionally, I tend to wait till closer to the end to vote and cast my votes against certain team's players or players themselves. There should have been no way Jeter gets the selection in 2010 and 2011 based on his stats. Back in the day, Ozzie Smith got quite a few AS selections without being the best SS in the NL that year.

Also, keep in mind that each team gets a selection (Robert Fick).

He is the right choice.

I try not to be a homer and I try to pick on stats alone. It's nice to see Tigers in the game, but I'd rather see the best of the best out there regardless of what team they come from. In some cases (especially with pitchers), I'd rather not see our guys in the game. I'd rather they just get the extra rest over the break.
