I decided to do my own all-time team...25 man roster.

Starting lineup:
1b-Hank Greenberg
2b- Charlie Gehringer
3b- George Kell
SS- Alan Trammell
C- Bill Freehan
OF-Ty Cobb
OF- Al Kaline
OF- Sam Crawford
DH- Harry Heilmann

Bench:
Pinch-hitter: Gates Brown
Catcher: Lance Parrish
Utility Man: Tom Brookens
IF: Norm Cash
IF: Lou Whitaker
OF: Kirk Gibson

Starting Pitchers:

Mickey Lolich
Hal Newhouser
Jack Morris
Tommy Bridges
Justin Verlander

Bullpen:

Trying to stick with real relievers. Don't need as many RPs with starters that finish.

Closer: John Hiller
Long Man: Dizzy Trout
Left-handed specialist: Jamie Walker
Aurelio Lopez
Willie Hernandez

I don't care what Harry Heilmann did in the teens and '20s....there is no way I put him at DH over Miggy.

Thank you for putting Sweet Lou on there. He is my favorite Tiger all-time and I always feel like he gets overlooked for everything. He was the Joe D of Detroit baseball. Class act that always produced, but did so quietly which led him to not getting all the credit he deserved...

If Lou Whitaker played on the Yankees or redsox and put up his numbers he would have been a HOF now, probably same as Trammell.

Look at the all-time WAR leaders and see who is ranked 56th with a plethora of Hall of Fame players below him.

Great OF and you have Hank but Miggy needs to be on the team somewhere.

lol the earliest tiger team i remember had milt cuyler, travis fryman, trammel, whitaker, fielder, phillips, gibson, tettleton, and rob deer on it, so i think i'll stay out of this debate.

You young lads.

With respect to Freehan and Parrish, let me say LOL no Cochrane or Rodriguez? the 2 best Tiger catchers ever?

Pudge wasnt here long. And Freehan, in a time where pitching was king, was a stud.

Wait, Pudge was not here long enough, but you're lobbying for Miggy?

And even if we forget Pudge, explain Cochrane?

I get it it's his list, but if I were picking it I would go with the best guys over my favorites.

just sayin

Toss up I guess. Freehan, as far as catchers go, was dominate at his position. Pudge and Cochrane were too. 10 AS, 2nd and 3rd in MVP, several GG. So its not laughable that he was as good as the others.

lol wow forgot all about that guy.[/quote:v3q9dr4b]

Me and my buddies always try to throw out the horrible names of sports past. Like yesterday I won the crowd with Brian Hunter. But we do all the major sports.

Its true.....:( lol

Pudge had ONE great year in Detroit. Freehan was the catcher of the 60s for MLB and the heart and soul of the teams of that period. Lance Parrish was my favorite growing up, so I could not exclude him. Cochrane played 3 full seasons before a beaning basically ended his playing career. Miggy is great, but Heilmann won 4 batting titles. Miggy can make the team in a few years...I took Cash over Miggy b.c of longevity. Hated to leave Horton off.
