Americans ' Distaste for both Trump and Clinton is record breaking

This is what I don't get

"..The Democratic primary will technically march on, but Hillary Clinton is almost certainly going to be her party’s nominee. Same with Donald Trump. And voters don’t appear thrilled at the prospect"

Yet the ones voting through the primaries are way up and Trump thumped everyone. And suddenly the voters don't appear thrilled? Maybe the dems aren't thrilled but this makes little sense.

Palin supposedly on the short list for trumps choice for veep, if he does that he will lose IMO, meanwhile demo delegates starting to fight with one another, might turn out to be the dem convention you'll need to popcorn for and not the repos.

I find it hard to beleive trump would choose palin after that so didn't work already once before for Johnny boy

No way he selects Palin in my opinion. But who knows with Donny.

if Trump picks Palin it will make me wonder if those allegations he ran solely as a favor to the Clintons are true. [insert pic of smiling Bill+Hillary and Trump+one of his series of wives... hey he should do a reality show next: Who Wants to Marry Donald Trump?]

but I think he'll pick some former Republican governor has-been, like Rick Perry or Mike Huckabee, or maybe even a current governor hoping for more free publicity to give them a shot, or another shot, at the whitehouse in 4 years, like Chris Christie.

Would anyone have guessed the republican nominee would be a guy that said he likes Obamacare (though he wants changes made), supports high speed rail, wants to bump up the minimum wage, and is relatively pro-LGBT? And that dems would really hate him?

Dems only hate him because he isn't the chosen queen.

its not that surprising. those are a few of he reasons conservatives who aren't single issue (immigration) voters can't stand him. Dems have labeled him a racist (incorrectly, in my opinion) and that's by far the biggest sin to them so they have to hate him or walk back those accusations. but they have hillary so why go to bat for a guy who has made not rubber stamping millions of new Dem voters the biggest part of his platform?

I think you're confusing "racist" with "xenophobic".

I don't think anyone really considered him a racist when he calls Mexicans rapists and murderers, he means people actually from Mexico, not people with Mexican heritage.

Same for all his Muslim squakings.

I'm not confusing anything. Just do a web search for Trump - racist is probably the most common label used. Perhaps because most people don't know what a xenophobe is so when they hear him say he wants to stop illegal immigration from Mexico, they think he's racist. But to your point, it's definitely not the only label he's been pasted with. He's also been called a sexist and a xenophobe among others, I'm sure.

Question: do you think some of his statements, notably the false accusation that he saw Muslims celebrating on rooftops on 9/11, and that the Mexicans entering the country are all (more or less) rapists and criminals are racist?

If not, what would be racist in your mind?

as a follow up: has a Conservative white person actually done or said anything racist in the past 46 years (so since 1970)? yes or no. if yes, it would be helpful if you could provide an example or two, because I want to better understand your worldview.

One thing I think is a little bit remarkable about Trump is that there is a more visible narrative about how he says what he really thinks unlike career politicians, but I've also heard a second narrative about how he's just expertly pandering.

I think the 'racist' angle is a new one and based on the remarks about building a wall and immigration. prior to being a candidate, I don't know that he would have been labelled racist, other than by those in NY who knew him to force out 'undesirable' tenants.

It's actually not a false accusation that muslims were seen celebrating 9/11 here in New Jersey as he said. You're refusal to accept this fact doesn't make the accusation false. And no, I don't think calling criminals "criminals" is racist. I think you and your team intentionally mischaracterize his remarks about criminal illegal aliens as racist so you can dismiss him offhand as racist and therefore unfit for the office. And again, I'm not supporting Trump - I can't stand him because he is a bad person and definitely not a conservative but he is not a racist or xenophobe.

To answer your follow up, it's probably happened but not anywhere near on the scale that it happened in the Democratic party and unlike Democrats, Republicans don't pursue racist social policies that have a significant detrimental impact on poor, mostly minority communities.

I've said it before, as much as you accuse and deflect, you're easily the biggest racist, homophobic bigot on this board. The evidence is quite clear on that.

a couple websites have compiled lists of some of his statements labeling racial and ethnic groups broadly based on his perceptions of them. Labeling entire racial or ethnic groups as lazy, dishonest, criminal, etc is - to me at least - the dictionary definition of racism. To others those things are just "the truth" or "telling it like it is."

he's been doing and saying things like this since the 1980's. his comments about the central park 5 show a very Bernard-Goetz worldview.

it's one thing to hear this crap from an idiot on the internet, or a drunk uncle, but it is, or at least should be, unacceptable for someone who aspires to be a leader of society to make these kind of statements. for one, they're lazy, shoot-from-the-hip accusations that sweep all types of people up together, whtehr they fit those characteristics or not. for another, they divide society and incite further racist violence between groups of people that probably in practice have more in common with eachother than they do with a half-wit, pandering, reality-tv star who inherited his meal-ticket, and only built things through government handouts his wealthy father introduced him to.

that's interesting. You asked me about his specific comments about illegal aliens, not Mexicans in general and his comment about certain, not all Muslims celebrating the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Those comments and his comment about temporarily halting immigration from muslim countries, specifically those engaged in civil wars are the only ones I'm aware of and I limited my comments to those. If you're trying to say I'm defending every statement he's ever made, nice try. Next time, post every statement or a link to these websites you're referring to (I can probably guess who is behind those).

I understand that people are gullible, but I can't believe more people haven't picked up on that.
