Another reason not to hire Caldwell

We suddenly don't have talent at QB? You want Joey Harrington back? There is a significant difference between talent, and reaching one's potential.

The guy had a talent for turning the ball over the last 7 games. Sure. Just having a rocket arm isn't enough ask Jeff George, another 'talent'. Do I think Stafford will get his shit together, hell yes. If he doesn't he, like George, can take his talent to the bench.

Not Joey Harrington but I'll take a number of young quarterbacks..right now. I rather be less talented and win more games.

I dunno guys, think Stafford with Pete Carroll in Seattle. Or think Stafford in San Frisco with Jim Harbough. How does he fair in that situation? Talent and results are very different subjects.

if you noticed the last 5 weeks....seattles offense has been horrid. You put Stafford on that team I guarantee they aren't where they are right now. The play a ball control, pound the rock, play great defense, control the clock and don't beat yourself game. Staff plays a too aggressive, I could have 6 tds or 6 ints, throw the shit out of the ball, we beat ourselves all the time kind of game. Definitely wouldn't work on seattle and if you asked pete carrol I bet he takes Russell Wilson 12 times out of 10.

Stafford would run into even more issues in SEA than he does here. SEA has zero weapons to create separation quickly and russel makes plays with his feet most the time to extend plays.....2 left foot Stafford would get eaten alive.

They both have much better defenses. Different situation. I do know Wilson and Kaepernick we'd have more wins..

talent doesn't go 1-6 to end the year....talent doesn't go 4-12 or 7-9 or lose the division to josh mccown or matt Flynn...2 very UNTALENTED qbs. Talent doesn't lose to a team that doesn't even score a TD. Being undisciplined didn't lose all those games.....undisciplined is jumping offsides. Dropping a league high number of passes year in and year out means either your WR corps are not talented....or your qb is not talented....or a combination of both. One year of bad drops....meh....shit happens. But when it happens year after year after year.....its the untalented players on our team. Ive been hearing the "were a talented team ready to take the next step" argument for 20 years now....people are foolish to keep saying it.

This is a talented football team. EVERYONE but you recognizes that. We have ONE legit WR ... ONE! I'll give you that all day but to say we're not talented just shows how fn ignorant you are.

And stop saying we lost to McCown and Flynn. We beat both those QBs, murdered Flynn actually.

And you're delusional (again) by saying people were claiming we're ready to take the next step for the last 20 years. We went through a horrible rough patch in the late 90's and early 2000's. This team was on nobody's radar until about 6 years ago .... be realistic

Oh, i get it now, LESS talent equals MORE wins. Holy fuck, that's a beaut. lmao

Tony's right. The receiving corp is horrid. Take away the number 1 passing option in each team in the nfl and I think the lions have the worst in the nfl. Think for a minute, that Staffords second option has always been burleson or pettigrew and things will make a lot more sense. Especially when this was the only year with a run game.

But you guys keep telling me how Burleson was such a good signing and Pettigrew was such a great pick....can't have it both ways.

And this is where you kool aid drinkers contradict yourselves all the time. If stafford went down for 5 gameswed hear a never-ending trail of excuses. I'm not going to stop saying it...we came in 3rd place to teams that started josh mccown and Matt Flynn. Its fucking pathetic and proof we dont have a talented team.

Talented teams can overcome the loss of a key player. Yet if CJ is hurt or out, chalk up a loss.

I always thought Joey would have been an excellent head coach or at worst an offensive coordinator.

It's possible to be talented in many areas, but not all areas. It's been mentioned numerous times that in 2013 our only good WR was Calvin. So other than Calvin, our WRs are not talented currently in my opinion.

And Hughes, at the time the Burleson signing was a good signing. He brought leadership to the team, and at that time he was a decent #2 WR. His first 2 years as a Lion, the Lions increased their win total by 4 both years. The following year he broke his leg, he only played our first 6 games, and the Lions were 4-12. This past year (2013), I think he's lost a little of his speed, and then he broke his arm and only ended up playing 9 games.

So while now I'm fine with letting him go, or making him take a large pay cut, but he did help us the first couple of seasons.

Talented teams overcome the loss of one player. GB Overcame the loss of Rodgers to win the division. I don't think the position was talented behind him since they were on their fourth qb who was a castoff from the Raiders. We're the third most talented team in the division.

It'd be nice if our QB made another receiver look like a star..

mayhew is awesome. were stacked everywhere. Its totally not his fault he keeps picking WR after WR after WR and our number 1 need is still WR LMAO....does that remind you of anyone else?....oh weird....its EXACTLY what millen did and mayhew was millen's prot?g?!!!

these fucking kool aid drinkers are delusional.....

Look at pretty much any other team, Mayhew is no worse than any other GM. They all hit and miss.
